The aim of this study was to assess patients' perceived risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2 at the peak of the pandemic in NYC in terms of their systemic rheumatic disease and medications. ⋯ Patients' perceived increased risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2 was associated with beliefs about their rheumatic disease, medications, comorbidity, and anxiety. Clinicians should be aware of patients' perceptions and foster self-management practices that will alleviate anxiety, minimize exposure to the virus, and optimize systemic rheumatic disease outcomes.

Sarcopenia is a progressive and generalized loss of muscle mass and function. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of sarcopenia among patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (SS) and the factors related with sarcopenia. ⋯ Risk of sarcopenia is increased in patients with SS. Pain and malnutrition may contribute to presarcopenia. Evaluating pain and patient's global disease activity may help physicians to determine patients with increased risk of sarcopenia. Controlling disease activity and pain and preventing malnutrition may reduce the risk of development of sarcopenia.

To assess the efficacy and safety of intra-articular sacroiliac glucocorticoid injection in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). ⋯ Intra-articular sacroiliac glucocorticoid injection can be a safe and effective treatment option for active sacroiliitis in AS.

Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) is an uncommon but potentially fatal complication in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Its prognosis and factors associated with mortality are not completely clear, although invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), use of cyclophosphamide, a high Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II score, and infections are associated with high mortality rates. We investigated clinical and immunologic characteristics and factors associated with mortality in a cohort of Latin American patients with SLE who developed DAH. ⋯ Hypoalbuminemia, longer duration of IMV or inotropic/vasoactive treatment, and a high SLEDAI are potential prognostic factors for mortality in patients with SLE and DAH admitted to the ICU.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that leads to joint deformity and disability, as well as muscle involvement. Sarcopenia is characterized by a progressive age-related loss of muscle mass and strength. ⋯ Higher prevalence of sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity were found in female RA patients. Sarcopenia was found in younger female subjects with RA compared with healthy control subjects. Sarcopenia was associated with previous fragility fractures in female patients with RA.
