Comparative Study Observational Study
A Novel Approach in Combined Liver and Kidney Transplantation With Long-term Outcomes.
The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of simultaneous and delayed implantation of kidney grafts in combined liver-kidney transplantation (CLKT). ⋯ Delayed KT in CLKT (especially if delayed >48 h) is associated with improved kidney function with no DGF post-KT, and improved patient and graft survival.

We sought to evaluate outcomes and predictors of renal allograft futility (RAF-patient death or need for renal replacement therapy at 3 months) after simultaneous liver-kidney transplantation (SLKT). ⋯ With 20% short-term loss of transplanted kidneys after SLKT, our data strongly suggest that renal transplantation should be deferred in liver recipients at high risk for RAF. Consideration for a kidney allocation variance to allow for delayed renal transplantation after liver transplantation may prevent loss of scarce renal allografts.

The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the role of split liver transplantation (SLT) in a combined pediatric and adult liver transplant center. The secondary aim is to reflect on our clinical practice and discuss strategies to build a successful split program using an "intention to split policy." ⋯ SLT is an effective surgical strategy to meet the demands in a combined adult and pediatric transplant center. Good outcomes can be achieved with a standardized technique.

The aim of this study was to identify patients' characteristics that may predict failure and removal of the Linx sphincter augmentation device, and to report the results of 1-stage laparoscopic removal and fundoplication. ⋯ Laparoscopic removal of the Linx device can be safely performed as a 1-stage procedure and in conjunction with fundoplication even in patients presenting with device erosion.
