To assess how virtual hepatectomy (VH), conducted using surgical planning software, influences the outcomes of liver surgery. ⋯ VH in LDLT allows double equipoise for the recipient and donor by optimizing decision-making on graft selection and venous reconstruction. VH offers a chance for radical hepatectomy even in HCC patients with impaired liver function and CRLM patients with advanced tumors, without compromising survival.

Accurate conflict of interest (COI) statements are important, as a known COI may invalidate study results due to the potential risk of bias. ⋯ We found that it was common for payments from Intuitive to be undeclared in robotic surgery articles. Mechanisms for accountability in COI reporting need to be put into place by journals to achieve appropriate transparency to those reading the journal article.

To describe the survival outcome of patients with borderline resectable or locally advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (BR/LA-PDAC) who have a pathologic complete response (pCR) following neoadjuvant chemoradiation. ⋯ Patients with BR/LA-PDAC who had a pCR after neoadjuvant chemoradiation had a significantly prolonged survival compared with those who had nCR or a limited response.

The purpose of this study was to understand the contemporary trends of splenectomy in blunt splenic injury (BSI) and to determine if angiography and embolization (ANGIO) may be impacting the splenectomy rate. ⋯ Over the last 7 years, the rate of angiography has been steadily rising while the overall rate of splenectomy has been stable. The lack of improved overall splenic salvage, despite increased ANGIO, calls into question the role of ANGIO in splenic salvage on high-grade BSI at a national level.

To gain contemporary insights from residents and surgeons regarding the care of older surgical patients. ⋯ Residents and surgeons have favorable attitudes, but only moderate geriatric-specific knowledge and only some guideline-adherent practices. We identified gaps in training and care delivery with targets for future knowledge translation and quality improvement initiatives.
