Multicenter Study Clinical Trial
Early Locoregional Breast Surgery and Survival in de novo Metastatic Breast Cancer in the Multicenter National ESME Cohort.
The aim was to evaluate the impact of local surgery performed during the year after MBC diagnosis on patients' outcomes from a large reallife cohort. ⋯ In the large ESME cohort, surgery within 1 year after de novo MBC diagnosis was associated with a significantly better OS and PFS.

To test the hypothesis that blood donor demographics are associated with transfused polytrauma patients' post-injury multiple organ failure (MOF) status. ⋯ Blood components donor sex, but not age, may be an important factor associated with post-injury MOF. Further validation of our findings will help guide future risk mitigation strategies specific to blood donor demographics.

To perform a cost-effectiveness analysis of staple-line reinforcement in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. ⋯ Compared with standard stapling, reinforced stapling reduces minor postoperative bleeding but not major bleeding or leaks and is not cost-effective if routinely used in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.

Optimal Timing of Perioperative Chemoprophylaxis in Patients With High Thromboembolic Risk Undergoing Major Abdominal Surgery: A Multicenter Cohort Study.
To determine whether early (before skin closure) versus postoperative chemoprophylaxis affects the incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and bleeding following major abdominal surgery, in a high thromboembolic risk population. ⋯ In high VTE risk patients undergoing major abdominal surgery, chemoprophylaxis commenced postoperatively reduces bleeding risk without affecting clinical VTE risk.
