To assess the effect of local ablative therapy (LAT) on overall survival in patients with lung metastases from colorectal cancer (CRC) compared with patients treated with systemic therapy. ⋯ A high long-term survival rate was achievable in a significant portion of patients with lung metastasis from CRC by the timely administrations of LAT to standard systemic therapy. The tumor burden and LAT feasibility should be included in a discussion during the follow-up period.

To assess whether the Surgical Apgar Score (SAS) improves re-estimation of perioperative cardiac risk. ⋯ When combined with a validated preoperative risk index, the SAS improved the accuracy of cardiac risk assessment for noncardiac surgery. Further research is needed to delineate how intraoperative data can better guide postoperative decision-making.

To develop, validate, and evaluate ML algorithms for predicting MSFN. ⋯ ML algorithms trained on readily available perioperative clinical data can accurately predict the occurrence of MSFN and aid in individualized patient counseling, preoperative optimization, and surgical planning to reduce the risk of this devastating complication.

Defining Benchmark Outcomes for Distal Pancreatectomy: Results of a French Multicentric Study.
Defining robust and standardized outcome references for distal pancreatectomy (DP) by using Benchmark analysis. ⋯ This large-scale study is the first benchmark analysis of DP outcomes and provides robust and standardized data. This may allow for comparisons between surgeons, centers, studies, and surgical techniques.
