To determine if lymph node yield (LNY) is associated with improved overall survival (OS) and time to recurrence (TTR) in patients with node-negative pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) treated with neoadjuvant therapy (NAT). ⋯ Lymph node yield was associated with improved oncologic outcomes in patients treated with NAT followed by pancreatoduodenectomy in two independent datasets. Responsible mechanisms by which LNY impacts the outcomes of node-negative patients following NAT warrant further exploration.

Blue Ribbon Committee II: Report of the Subcommittee on Faculty Development and Educational Support.
The American College of Surgeons, American Board of Surgery, and the American Surgical Association have created a Blue Ribbon Committee II to evaluate the current status of surgical education in the United States. As part of this endeavor, a subcommittee was formed to address issues pertinent to development of surgical faculty as teachers. This entailed multiple discussions among a group of experienced surgical educators, a review of the literature, and a delphi analysis of possible suggested improvements for faculty educational support, resulting in a final set of recommendations for improvement for future surgical faculty development. These recommendations include a task force to establish a validated system of compensation for faculty teaching, a task force to determine an accurate assessment of the value of surgical trainees to health systems, a review by the Surgical Residency Review Committee and the Association of Program Directors in Surgery of minimal faculty resources for program accreditation in the area of teaching learners, collaborative efforts across surgical specialties for the definition of a national curriculum for faculty, and development of a tool for evaluation of faculty teaching performance.

To report the first European series of full robotic whole liver transplantation (RLT) with technical details and future perspectives. ⋯ RLT is a promising technique to further reduce the impact of liver transplantation thanks to smaller incision, gentle tissue manipulation, high magnification and precision for vascular and biliary anastomosis, and reduced postoperative pain. This is the first step toward the demonstration of the feasibility of minimally invasive surgery in liver transplantation, although further selection and technical refinements are needed to improve reproducibility.

To understand medical interpreters' perspectives on surgical informed consent discussions and provide feedback for surgeons on improving these conversations. ⋯ Experienced interpreters highlighted multiple factors associated with effective and culturally tailored informed consent discussions. Surgeons should recognize interpreters' critical and complex roles, be cognizant of cultural variations among patients with limited English proficiency, and improve interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate effective understanding.
