Meta Analysis
The Effect of Cryotherapy Application on Post-operative Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
To systematically review and meta-analyze whether the application of cryotherapy on closed incisions reduces postoperative pain and opioid consumption. ⋯ Cryotherapy is a pragmatic, noncostly intervention that reduces postoperative pain and opioid consumption with no effect on SSI rate or hospital LOS.

The objective of this study is to systematically synthesize the existing literature on the experiences of motherhood in female surgeons both during surgical training and as staff physicians, to identify knowledge gaps, and to provide recommendations for institutional changes to better support pregnant female surgeons. ⋯ Both female residents and staff surgeons experience significant and unique barriers before, during, and after motherhood that impact their personal and professional lives. Understanding the unique challenges that mothers face when pursuing surgical specialties is critical to achieving gender equity.

The aim of this study was to expand Operative Stress Score (OSS) increasing procedural coverage and assessing OSS and frailty association with Preoperative Acute Serious Conditions (PASC), complications and mortality in females versus males. ⋯ Similar to the male-dominated Veteran population, private sector, frail patients have high likelihood of postoperative mortality, even after low-stress surgeries. Preoperative frailty screening should be performed regardless of magnitude of the procedure. Despite males experiencing higher adjusted odds of PASC and CDIV complications, females with PASC had higher odds of mortality compared to males, suggesting differences in the aggressiveness of care provided to men and women.

Multicenter Study
An International Multicenter Prospective Study Evaluating the Long-term Oncological Impact of Adjuvant Chemotherapy in ypN+ Rectal Cancer.
To assess the oncological benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) in node positive (ypN+) rectal cancer after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and radical surgery. ⋯ In this multicenter comparative cohort study, we identified an oncological benefit of AC in both systemic recurrence and DFS in ypN+ rectal cancer patients. From this data, systemic chemotherapy continues to confer oncological benefit in locally advanced ypN+ rectal cancer.

Auxilliary Liver Transplantation According to the RAPID Procedure in Non-cirrhotic Patients - Technical Aspects and Early Outcomes.
To present technical details and short-term experiences of liver transplantation as a 2-stage procedure using small for size grafts in a multicenter cohort study. ⋯ Two-stage liver transplantation is a feasible option for noncirrhotic patients allowing the safe use of small for size grafts and could possibly be extended with caution to liver diseases with portal hypertension and cirrhosis. The resection and partial liver transplantation with delayed total hepatectomy technique might be a viable option for expanding the donor pool given the current organ shortage especially for low-model of end stage liver disease patients.
