This study assesses the user burden, reliability, and longitudinal validity of the AHQ, a novel VH patient-reported outcomes measure (PROM). ⋯ The AHQ is a patient-informed, psychometrically-validated, clinical instrument for measuring, quantifying, and tracking PROMs in VH patients. The AHQ exhibits low response burden, excellent reliability, and effectively measures hernia-specific changes in quality-of-Life following ventral hernia repair.

To demonstrate the feasibility of implementing a CBE curriculum within a general surgery residency program and to evaluate its effectiveness in improving resident skill. ⋯ Completion of a CBE rotation led to significant improvements in PGY-2 residents' LC performance that reached that of PGY-3s and decreased performance variability. These results support wider implementation of CBE in resident training.

To develop an international core outcome set (COS), a minimal collection of outcomes that should be measured and reported in all future clinical trials evaluating treatments of acute simple appendicitis in children. ⋯ An evidence-informed COS based on international consensus, including patients and parents has been developed. This COS is recommended for all future studies evaluating treatment ofsimple appendicitis in children, to reduce heterogeneity between studies and facilitate data synthesis and evidence-based decision-making.

To identify rates of positive circumferential resection margin (CRM) for colon cancer surgery in the US. ⋯ Overall rate of CRM+ in US colon cancer cases is high. Variation exists across hospitals, with higher than expected rates in many facilities. Although biology is a major influencing factor, CRM+ rates represent an area for multidisciplinary improvement in quality of colon cancer care.
