To assess the impact of normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) on patients, medical teams, and costs by gathering global insights and exploring current limitations. ⋯ The adoption of NMP is hindered by high costs and operational complexity. Making LT elective through NMP could reduce costs and improve outcomes, but overcoming barriers requires national reimbursements and simplified, automated NMP systems for multiday preservation.

We used machine learning to develop and validate a multivariable algorithm allowing the accurate and early prediction of postoperative hypocalcemia risk. ⋯ Using machine learning, we developed and validated a simple multivariable model that allowed the accurate prediction of postoperative hypocalcemia. The resulting algorithm could be used at the point of care to guide clinical management after total thyroidectomy.

We have assessed the chatbot Generative Pretrained Transformer, a type of artificial intelligence software designed to simulate conversations with human users, in an experiment designed to test its relevance to scientific writing. chatbot Generative Pretrained Transformer could become a promising and powerful tool for tasks such as automated draft generation, which may be useful in academic activities to make writing work faster and easier. However, the use of this tool in scientific writing raises some ethical concerns and therefore there have been calls for it to be regulated. ⋯ To detect the author is a complex task and requires thorough critical reading to reach a conclusion. The aim of this paper is, therefore, to explore the pros and cons of the use of chatbots in scientific writing.
