BACKGROUND lncRNA HCP5 plays a cancer-promoting role in a variety of cancers. This study was the first to explore the mechanism of HCP5 in gastric carcinoma (GC). MATERIAL AND METHODS The differences in HCP5 between GC patients and healthy people were revealed in the TCGA database. ⋯ HCP5 was overexpressed in GC cells, but this was reversed by miR-27b-3p. Silencing HCP5 inhibited GC cell viability and metastasis by downregulating Vimentin and N-cadherin and up-regulating E-cadherin, but this effect was partially reversed by miR-27b-3p inhibitor. CONCLUSIONS The effect of silencing HCP5 on repressing GC cells viability and metastasis by regulating EMT-associated markers can be partially reversed by miR-27b-3p inhibitor.

Worldwide, genital infection with Chlamydia trachomatis (C. trachomatis) is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. Most infections are asymptomatic. However, particularly in women, untreated infection with C. trachomatis can lead to complications that include pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and tubal ectopic pregnancy. ⋯ Novel and rapid diagnostic tests include extraordinary optical transmission (EOT), loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), and microwave-accelerated metal-enhanced fluorescence (MAMEF). Although these new tests offer the promise of rapid screening and diagnosis, they may have lower diagnostic sensitivity. This review aims to provide an overview of traditional methods for the diagnosis of urogenital infection with C. trachomatis, the current status of POC testing for urogenital C. trachomatis infection and discusses recent progress and perspectives.

BACKGROUND During February 2020, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic in Hubei Province, China, was at its height, requiring isolation of the population. This study aimed to compare the emotional state, somatic responses, sleep quality, and behavior of people in Hubei Province with non-endemic provinces in China during two weeks in February 2020. MATERIAL AND METHODS Questionnaires were completed by 939 individuals (357 men; 582 women), including 33 from Hubei and 906 from non-endemic provinces. The Stress Response Questionnaire (SRQ) determined the emotional state, somatic responses, and behavior. ⋯ CONCLUSIONS During a two-week period, front-line health workers and people in Hubei Province became less anxious about the COVID-19 epidemic, but sleep quality did not improve. Despite public awareness, levels of anxiety exist that affect the quality of life during epidemics, including periods of population quarantine. Therefore, health education should be combined with psychological counseling for vulnerable individuals.

BACKGROUND Growing evidence shows that the tumor microenvironment plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The present work aimed to screen tumor microenvironment-related genes strongly related to prognosis and to construct a prognostic gene expression model for HCC. MATERIAL AND METHODS We downloaded gene expression data of 371 HCC patients in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). ⋯ The 2-gene signature was regarded as an independent prognostic predictor that was correlated with 3-year survival rate, as shown by Cox regression analysis. CONCLUSIONS This study offers a novel 2-gene signature to predict overall survival of patients with HCC, which has the potential to be used as an independent prognostic predictor. Overall, this study reveals more details about the tumor microenvironment in HCC and offers novel candidate biomarkers.

Comparison of Effects of Abdominal Draw-In Lumbar Stabilization Exercises with and without Respiratory Resistance on Women with Low Back Pain: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
BACKGROUND This study examined the effects of abdominal draw-in lumbar stabilization exercises (ADIM) with respiratory resistance on women ages 40-49 years with low back pain. MATERIAL AND METHODS Forty-four women ages 40-49 years were screened for participation and were randomly assigned to either a respiratory with resistance exercise group (n=22) or a control group (n=22). Abdominal draw-in lumbar stabilization exercises were administered to both groups, but only the respiratory with resistance exercise group received the respiratory resistance training. ⋯ CONCLUSIONS A lumbar stabilization exercise program consisting of ADIM and respiratory resistance resulted in decreased pain, reduced dysfunctions, and increased muscle thickness in contraction, contraction rate, and pulmonary function. Strong contraction of the diaphragm and deep abdominal muscles through breathing resistance increased the pressure in the abdominal cavity. Therefore, this may be an effective clinical exercise method for patients with lumbar instability.
