Prevalence and risk factors associated with hypertension and prehypertension in a working population at high altitude in China: a cross-sectional study.
Little information is available on the epidemiology of hypertension and prehypertension at high altitude in China, the aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of hypertension, prehypertension and their risk factors among Chinese working population at high altitude regions. ⋯ There is a high prevalence of hypertension and prehypertension in the working population at high altitude in China, but with very low awareness, treatment and control rates. Workplace-based BP screening and intervention programs that aim to modify risk factors such as high BMI, tobacco use, alcohol consumption and inappropriate use of antihypertensive medicine are urgently needed.

Psychological distress between chronic hemodialysis patients with and without low back pain.
The aim of this study was to compare psychological distress between patients on chronic hemodialysis with and without chronic low back pain (CLBP). ⋯ These results suggest that higher psychological distress was a fundamental feature in patients on chronic hemodialysis with CLBP.

Rural-urban differences in the prevalence of cognitive impairment in independent community-dwelling elderly residents of Ojiya city, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
This study aimed to examine rural-urban differences in the prevalence of cognitive impairment in Japan. ⋯ The prevalence of cognitive impairment was higher in the rural area relative to urban areas in Ojiya city. This regional difference suggests the existence of potentially modifiable factors other than lifestyle in relation to cognitive impairment.

Factors associated with illicit opioid use in methadone maintenance treatment clients in 5 Provinces, China.
To investigate factors associated with illicit opioid use among methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) population. ⋯ Age, gender, route of heroin use and daily MMT dosages were associated with illicit opioid use. A tailored intervention is needed for a promotion of MMT.

Frequency, causes and human impact of motor vehicle-related road traffic accident (RTA) in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Road traffic accident (RTA)-related trauma remains a public health issue. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency, causes and human impact of motor vehicle-related RTA in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. ⋯ This study showed a relatively high frequency of RTA occurring in Lubumbashi and suggests the necessity to reinforce road traffic regulation.
