The aim of the study is to explore the characteristics of systolic blood pressure (SBP) and heart rate (HR) changes in patients undergoing percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) for trigeminal neuralgia and analyze the factors that influence the formation of the symbolic pear shape of the balloon, which signifies successful compression. ⋯ Effective ganglion compression significantly increased SBP. CIABP can monitor SBP in real time and can also safeguard the compression process. CIABP is a safe and effective method in the PBC process that is worthy of promotion and application.

This study aims at investigating the internal heat acupuncture (IHA) combined with the high-voltage long-duration pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) therapeutic effect on subacute postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). ⋯ Internal heat acupuncture combined with high-voltage long-duration pulsed radiofrequency has a satisfactory therapeutic effect on subacute PHN and has no obvious adverse reactions, which is especially suitable for patients with poor blood glucose control.

Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by spontaneous chronic widespread pain in combination with hyperalgesia to pressure stimuli. Sound-induced flash illusions (SIFIs) reflect cross-modal interactions between senses allowing to assess a visual cortical hoerexcitability (VCH) by evaluating the fission and fusion illusions disruption. The aims of the present study were to explore whether SIFIs are perceived differently in patients with fibromyalgia as compared to healthy controls (HCs) and how migraine affects fission and fusion illusions in fibromyalgia. ⋯ Results from this study confirm that patients with FM have a VCH suggesting that the pathological changes in cortical excitability might have important roles in the pathophysiology of FM. SIFI represents a noninvasive behavioral tool for the exploration of cross-sensory functional interplay.

The present study aimed to develop Nursing Stretch Break (NSB) application to relieve work-related musculoskeletal complications and fatigue among hospital nurses. ⋯ NSB could be a low-cost and feasible ergonomic solution to improve the nurses' musculoskeletal health.

Comorbid chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) complicate the treatment of both conditions. Previous research has identified pain catastrophizing as a potentially important variable contributing to the relationship between chronic pain and PTSD. However, little is known regarding how the different dimensions of pain catastrophizing-rumination, magnification, and helplessness-uniquely contribute to the relationship between PTSD symptomatology and measures of pain outcome. ⋯ Pain catastrophizing is a multifaceted construct. These results suggest that the helplessness dimension of pain catastrophizing may be the primary target when treating patients with comorbid chronic pain and PTSD symptoms. This study represents the first to evaluate the influence of the individual dimensions of pain catastrophizing on the relationship between PTSD symptomatology and chronic pain outcome.
