Relation between time interval from antenatal corticosteroids administration to delivery and neonatal outcome in twins.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the perinatal outcome in twins, who were administered one complete course of antenatal corticosteroids (ACS) depending on the time interval from corticosteroids to delivery. ⋯ There is a relation between neonatal outcomes in twins and time interval between ACS administration and birth. Therefore, a single ACS course should be administered with caution in order to allow for the completion of the treatment without exceeding an interval of 7 days to delivery. © 2016 Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Case ReportsPost-partum hypoglycemia and hypothermia as first manifestations of lymphocytic adenohypophysitis: A case report.
Lymphocytic adenohypophysitis is a very rare autoimmune disease characterized by an anterior pituitary infiltration of lymphocytes that cause various symptoms, such as headache, visual disturbance, and hypopituitarism. Lymphocytic adenohypophysitis is more common in women and has a remarkable association with the perinatal period. Recently, we experienced a case of lymphocytic adenohypophysitis shortly after delivery. ⋯ Currently, her pituitary size has normalized and its function has fully recovered. Physical stress resulting from labor and delivery may unmask subclinical lymphocytic adenohypophysitis. Practitioners should keep in mind the possibility of lymphocytic adenohypophysitis in any pregnant women with symptoms of hypoglycemia and hypothermia after delivery.

Affirm VPIII microbial identification test can be used to detect gardnerella vaginalis, Candida albicans and trichomonas vaginalis microbial infections in Korean women.
The aim of this study was to compare Affirm VPIII Microbial Identification Test results for Korean women to those obtained for Gardnerella vaginalis through Nugent score, Candida albicans based on vaginal culture and Trichomonas vaginalis based on wet smear diagnostic standards. ⋯ The Affirm test is a quick tool that can help physicians diagnose and treat patients with infectious vaginitis at the point of care.

Randomized Controlled TrialActive gas aspiration versus simple gas evacuation to reduce shoulder pain after diagnostic laparoscopy: A randomized controlled trial.
To evaluate the effectiveness of active gas aspiration to reduce postoperative shoulder pain in infertile women undergoing day-case diagnostic laparoscopy. ⋯ Active gas aspiration provided a significantly superior effect on postoperative shoulder pain relief after diagnostic laparoscopy when compared to simple gas evacuation, without any adverse events.

Case ReportsRetinal detachment in hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count (HELLP) syndrome: Color vision abnormality as the first and predominant manifestation.
Serous retinal detachment is sometimes caused by hypertensive disorders in pregnancy and its associated conditions, in which the predominant eye symptoms are blurred vision, distorted vision, and reduced visual acuity. To our best knowledge, this is the first report of a puerperal woman with hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count (HELLP) syndrome in whom color vision abnormality was the first and predominant manifestation of serous retinal detachment. At 32 weeks of gestation, the 34-year-old Japanese woman underwent cesarean section due to HELLP syndrome. ⋯ The visual acuity was preserved. With supportive therapy, her color vision abnormality gradually ameliorated and retinal detachment completely resolved on day 34 post-partum without any sequelae. Obstetricians should be aware that color vision abnormality can be the first and predominant symptom of HELLP-related serous retinal detachment.
