The treatment of convulsive status epilepticus in children. The Status Epilepticus Working Party, Members of the Status Epilepticus Working Party.
There is currently little agreement between hospital protocols when treating convulsive status epilepticus in children, and a working party has been set up to produce a national evidence based guideline for treating this condition. This four step guideline is presented in this paper. Its effectiveness will be highlighted and its use audited in a number of centres.

Maternity advice survey: sleeping position in Eastern Europe. MAS Study Group for WHO EURO region.
To identify hospitals in Eastern Europe promoting front infant sleeping position. ⋯ A total of 489 hospitals in 20 countries responded. Preferred position in normal care units was back (26.6%), front (1. 8%), side (65%), or combination/none (6.6%). Corresponding recommendations at discharge were 17.4%, 3.5%, 73%, and 6.1%.

To determine whether maternal smoking during pregnancy is a risk factor for reported wheeze in early childhood that is independent of postnatal environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) exposure and other known risk factors. ⋯ Maternal smoking during pregnancy may be a risk factor for reported wheeze during early childhood that is independent of postnatal ETS exposure. For wheeze between 18 and 30 months of age, light smoking during the third trimester of pregnancy appears to confer the same risk as heavier smoking.
