[Delivery room practices in infants born through meconium stained amniotic fluid: a national survey].
Based on the results of two large RCTs, guidelines from NRP/AAP, ILCOR, ACOG, and from Argentinean scientific societies for intrapartum and postpartum management of pregnancies with Meconium Stained Amniotic Fluid (MSAF) have radically changed. However, there are no data as to current delivery room management of infants born through MSAF. ⋯ In spite of not being currently recommended, intrapartum suction and postnatal intubation and suction of vigorous infants with MSAF are commonly performed in Argentina while in depressed newborns the latter procedure is not always carried out. Our study confirms the frequent gaps observed between scientific evidence, guidelines and clinical practice.

Case Reports[Chronic autoimmune urticaria: treatment with omalizumab].
We report the case of a child with diagnosis of chronic urticaria/angioedema and its evolution upon omalizumab treatment. ⋯ Omalizumab could be a therapeutic option for patients with autoimmune urticaria unresponsive to other treatments.

[Effects on natremia of the intravenous hypotonic fluid administration in hospitalized children with acute lower respiratory tract infection].
Because of the risk of developing hyponatremia, intravenous hydratation prescription in children with lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD) is challenging. ⋯ A significant decrease in initial serum sodium has been observed in 11 of 35 patients. Higher initial serum sodium values increase the odds of a significant decrease.

Comparative Study[Neonatal cardiac surgery: assessment and comparison of surgical results using the RACHS-1 risk adjustment method].
The RACHS-1 method (Risk Adjustment for Congenital Heart Surgery) is widely used to predict mortality and risk adjustment in pediatric cardiovascular surgery and constitutes a valid tool to compare results among different health centers. ⋯ The age of surgery was not an independent risk factor as to mortality. The RACHS-1 method appeared as a powerful risk factor predictor of mortality; no differences were found in the age groups when classified by RACHS -1.

Clinical Trial[Levosimendan, a new inotropic drug: experience in children with acute heart failure].
Low cardiac output syndrome occurs frequently in pediatric patients after cardiac surgery. Catecholamines are used as inotropic drugs to treat this threatening condition, but may cause undesirable and potentially harmful side effects. This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of levosimendan (LEVO) in pediatric patients with low cardiac output syndrome. ⋯ LEVO improved cardiac output in 50% of the interventions with post-surgical LCOS and no adverse effect was observed.
