The effect of adverse childhood experiences on chronic pain and major depression in adulthood: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Adverse childhood experiences have been linked to increased multimorbidity, with physical and mental health consequences throughout life. Chronic pain is often associated with mood disorders, such as major depressive disorder (MDD); both have been linked to adverse childhood experiences. It is unclear how the effect of adverse childhood experiences on neural processing impacts on vulnerability to chronic pain, MDD, or both, and whether there are shared mechanisms. We aimed to assess evidence for central neural changes associated with adverse childhood experiences in subjects with chronic pain, MDD, or both using systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42021233989.

Sleep quality as a mediator of the relation between depression and chronic pain: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Chronic pain and depression represent two global health problems with considerable economic consequences. Although existing literature reports on the relation between depression and pain conditions, meta-analytic evidence backing the mediating role of sleep disturbance as one of the main symptoms of depression is scarce. To examine the extent to which sleep disturbance mediates the depression-chronic pain association, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of the associations of chronic pain, depression, and sleep quality. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42022338201.

Non-opioid analgesics for the prevention of chronic postsurgical pain: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.
Chronic postsurgical pain is common after surgery. Identification of non-opioid analgesics with potential for preventing chronic postsurgical pain is important, although trials are often underpowered. Network meta-analysis offers an opportunity to improve power and to identify the most promising therapy for clinical use and future studies. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42021269642.

Success rate of prehospital emergency front-of-neck access (FONA): a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Front-of-neck access (FONA) is an emergency procedure used as a last resort to achieve a patent airway in the prehospital environment. In this systematic review with meta-analysis, we aimed to evaluate the number and success rate of FONA procedures in the prehospital setting, including changes since 2017, when a surgical technique was outlined as the first-line prehospital method. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42022348975.
