Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of Flaxseed Consumption on Central Obesity, Serum Lipids, and Adiponectin Level in Overweight or Obese Women: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.
Flaxseed may be beneficial for the management of obesity due to its high content of alpha-linolenic acid, fibre, and lignans. ⋯ Flaxseed consumption may improve adiposity markers, such as adiponectin level. Thus, flaxseed consumption could be an adjunctive therapy to attenuate central obesity. Serum lipid profile has not changed meaningfully after flaxseed consumption.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Effects of Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) Supplementation on Anthropometric Indices, Blood Pressure, Sleep Quality, Mental Health, Fatigue Status, and Quality of Life in Patients with Ulcerative Colitis: A Randomized, Double-blinded, Placebo-controlled Trial.
An emerging body of evidence has highlighted the protective role of spirulina in human health. Thus, we conducted a randomised controlled trial to discern the effects of spirulina supplementation on anthropometric indices, blood pressure, sleep quality, mood, fatigue status and quality of life among ulcerative colitis patients. ⋯ An improved quality of life was observed among ulcerative colitis patients following spirulina supplementation, which could be attributed to improved sleep disturbance and stress status. Further clinical studies, with longer duration interventions and suitably powered sample sizes, are necessary to elucidate the veracity of our findings.

Prognostic accuracy of Quick SOFA in older adults hospitalized with community acquired urinary tract infection.
Quick [Sepsis-related] Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) is a prognostic score based on sepsis-3 definition, easy to carry out, whose application has been studied in older adults with sepsis from different sources and respiratory sepsis. However, to date no study has analysed its prognostic accuracy in older adults admitted to hospital with community urinary tract infection. ⋯ qSOFA showed a better predictive prognostic accuracy than SIRS and similar to SOFA in older adults admitted to hospital with community acquired urinary tract infection, having the advantage of not requiring laboratory tests.

Sexual dysfunction in patients after double-j catheterization: a cross-sectional, prospective study.
This study was conducted to examine sexual dysfunction in patients after double-J catheterisation. ⋯ This study found that double-J catheterisation negatively affects patients' sexual function. Patients experience sexual dysfunction while the double-J catheter is in place and for a month after it is removed.

The importance of heart rate variability in predicting cardiac autonomic dysfunction in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive disease characterized by degeneration in the upper and lower motor neurons of the corticospinal tract, brain stem, and spinal cord. Recent studies have revealed that the disease does not present solely with motor neuron involvement. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to investigate the presence of cardiac autonomic impairment in patients diagnosed with ALS. ⋯ Contrary to the popular opinion, cardiac autonomic dysfunction in patients with ALS can occur at any stage of the disease. Therefore, it is recommended that the patients are evaluated via periodic examinations during the follow-up period for cardiac autonomic involvement.
