Observational StudyAn Emergency Plan for Management of COVID-19 Patients in Rural Areas.
To describe the experience of six hospitals in the management of COVID-19 patients in rural areas through an assessment of proportions, types and clinical outcomes of remote clinical interventions. ⋯ Our findings demonstrate significant impact of the remote pharmacist interventions on both medicines use and clinical outcomes of COVID-19 patients in rural areas. Pharmacists in developing countries should be supported to implement remote clinical services to provide patients in rural places with optimal care.

The role of preoperative ultrasound in the diagnosis of penile fractures and the effect of tunica defect length on postoperative functional outcomes.
This study aimed to investigate the rate of tunica defect detection by postoperative penile ultrasound (US) and the effect of tunica defect length (TDL) on functional outcomes. ⋯ US is a valuable tool for the detection of tunica defects especially with >11mm length. In addition, TDL >11 mm in penile fractures is associated with lower IIEF-5 scores in the early postoperative period and higher rates of penile nodules.

Could VEGF-D level have a role in clinical risk scoring, estimation of thrombus burden, and treatment in acute pulmonary thromboembolism?
Pulmonary embolism (PE) is usually a complication of deep vein thrombosis and is an important cause of mortality and morbidity. Vascular endothelial growth factor D (VEGF-D) is a secretory protein that plays a role in the remodelling of blood vessels and the lymphatic system. This study aimed to determine the relationship between VEGF-D level and clinical risk scoring in patients with PE. ⋯ This study showed that plasma VEGF-D level was more reliable than troponin-I and NT-proBNP in clinical risk scoring and demonstrating thrombus burden. VEGF-D can be used as a biomarker in clinical risk scoring and estimation of thrombus burden in patients with acute PE.

Glycemic Stability and Length of Stay: Tight vs. Conventional Intraoperative Glycemic Control Protocols Among Patients with Diabetes Mellitus Undergoing CABG Surgery.
Intraoperative glycaemic stability and control among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery have been a major concern. The current study aimed to compare the effect of tight glycaemic control and conventional glycaemic control on glycaemic stability and length of stay (LOS) among diabetic patients undergoing CABG surgery. ⋯ Healthcare providers, including physicians and nurses, should consider using tight glycaemic control therapy among patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. This may lead to increased BG level consistency and stability and lower mean intraoperative BG level across time.

Observational StudyAssociation between the dietary inflammatory index and obesity in otherwise healthy adults; role of age and sex.
The dietary inflammatory index (DII® ) can estimate the overall inflammatory potential of diet. This study aimed to assess the association between DII score and other diet quality parameters with weight status among normal weight, overweight and obese otherwise healthy adults. ⋯ This study showed that having a normal body weight is not necessarily indicative of less inflammatory potential of diet and better diet quality. Male sex and increasing age were important determinants of diet quality across BMI subgroups.
