Increased risk of shoulder calcific tendinopathy in diabetes mellitus: a nationwide, population-based, matched cohort study.
Calcific tendinopathy of the rotator cuff is a common cause of painful disability in the shoulder with unclear aetiology. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is associated with calcific tendinopathy; however, large epidemiological data are lacking. Thus, we conducted a nationwide population-based matched cohort study to investigate the risk for calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder in diabetic patients. ⋯ This study demonstrated that patients with DM had a 27% increased risk of developing calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder, 8 years after initially being diagnosed with DM.

Clinical characteristics and sick leave associated with infectious mononucleosis in a real-world setting in Germany.
Infectious mononucleosis (IM), mainly caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, can result in prolonged symptoms. The objective of this study was to look at the length of sick leave, diagnosis of IM, treatment and comorbidities in a real-world setting in Germany. ⋯ A small percentage of patients remained on continuous sick leave after 6 months, suggesting that the long-term effect of IM on the ability to work was minor in our cohort. However, patients could still be experiencing symptoms that influence their quality of life.

Management of urinary tract infections and antibiotic susceptibility patterns of bacterial isolates.
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common infections affecting individuals of different ages worldwide. Antimicrobial agents are usually the first-line treatment for UTIs, and the use of the prescribed antibiotic is escalating, resulting in increased rates of bacterial resistance and UTI recurrence. The current study aimed to identify the causative bacteria in Jordan, to explore their resistance pattern to antibiotics and to describe drug-related problems (DRPs) associated with UTI management. ⋯ The present study highlights the need for clinical pharmacists to manage the high level of drug related problems by providing updated information about proper drug selection, rational drug use and patient education and counselling.

Individual-Risk-Score For Urinary Tract Malignancy In Patients With Microscopic Hematuria.
To determine the patients who can be safely exempted from undergoing unnecessary diagnostic procedures for microscopic hematuria (MH) evaluation by using the developed individual-risk-scoring system. ⋯ The patients with a risk score of 5 points or above require complete urological evaluation. The results of the present study may reduce the number of patients undergoing unnecessary urological evaluation.
