Women are predisposed to early dose-limiting toxicities during adjuvant CAPOX for colorectal cancer.
Oxaliplatin-based adjuvant chemotherapy was demonstrated to be beneficial for stage III or high-risk stage II colorectal cancer (CRC). Moreover, a recent international collaborative trial suggested 3-months CAPOX as an alternative regimen for low-risk stage III colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. Thus, it is important to clarify the frequency and predictive markers of dose-limiting toxicities (DLTs) developed within the short-course CAPOX cycles. ⋯ Women were prone to early DLTs during adjuvant CAPOX in the current study. Doctors should be aware of the sex difference in the incidence of early DLTs, adjust the CAPOX dosage and provide supportive care for female CRC patients.

Is the performance of the International Severity Scoring System for Familial Mediterranean Fever in children better than other scoring systems?
Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterised by recurrent episodes of fever and serosal inflammation with elevated acute phase reactants. Assessing the severity of the disease may be useful in identifying colchicine-resistant patients. The aim of this study is to determine the disease severity of FMF patients according to the Pras, Mor, and International Severity Scoring System for Familial Mediterranean Fever (ISSF) scoring systems and to evaluate the consistency of these three systems. ⋯ Evaluation of disease severity according to the ISSF in paediatric patients is more sensitive and specific than the Pras and Mor scoring systems.

Is there an association between urine biochemical parameters on admission and the severity of COVID-19?
To determine the importance of urinary biochemical parameters on the severity of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ Proteinuria in routine urine analysis, which is one of the parameters that can be easily applied in the application, may be related to the severity of the COVID-19 disease.

Oxidative stress and schizophrenia: A comparative cross-sectional study of multiple oxidative markers in patients and their first-degree relatives.
Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a chronic, disruptive mental disorder with unknown pathogenic mechanisms. Several studies evidenced that oxidative stress (OS) may be one of the causal factors to play a role in the pathophysiology of the disease. Our study aims to contribute to the SCZ research by investigating a possible relationship between the severity of illness (scored with "The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale [PANSS]") and OS biomarkers in patients. We additionally assess the "first-degree-relatives (FDRs)" oxidative status with multiple parameters to test the idea of oxidative imbalance leads to disease progression as a genetical susceptibility factor. ⋯ OS biomarkers increased significantly in the peripheral blood of SCZ patients compared with other groups indicates the presence of OS in the aetiology of the disease. Mid-levels of oxidative markers found in FDRs imply that unaffected first-degree relatives have an increased risk for turning up to the clinical presentation stage.

The Levels of Oxidative DNA Damage and Some Antioxidants in Chronic Osteomyelitis Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Osteomyelitis (OM) is a local or generalised infection of the bone and bone marrow which may be multifactorial in its causation. In this study, we aimed to determine oxidative DNA damage and antioxidant status of patients with chronic osteomyelitis. ⋯ The results obtained from this study have shown that the oxidant-antioxidant balance is impaired in patients with chronic osteomyelitis. It also supports that chronic osteomyelitis has associated with oxidative DNA damage.
