Exploring the Relationship between Perfectionism and Pain in Patients with Temporomandibular Disorders: A Cross-Sectional Study.
The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to examine the relationship between perfectionism and pain in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). ⋯ Pain-related TMD patients exhibited higher perfectionism scores than NPT patients, and neither their perfectionism nor pain scores were correlated with intra-articular diseases of TMJ. OOP and SOP presented weak correlations with psychological distress in TMD patients. It is suggested that pain-related TMD patients could be screened for perfectionism and perfectionism could be considered when proposing psychological treatment strategies to PT patients.

Observational StudyChronic Low Back Pain with and without Concomitant Osteoarthritis: A Retrospective, Longitudinal Cohort Study of Patients in England.
Despite the high prevalence of chronic low back pain (CLBP) and osteoarthritis (OA), few estimates of the economic cost of these conditions in England have been published. The aim of the present analysis was to characterise the economic burden of moderate-to-severe pain associated with CLBP + OA and CLBP alone compared with general population-matched controls without CLBP or OA. The primary objective was to describe the total healthcare resource use (HCRU) and direct healthcare costs associated with the target patient populations. Secondary objectives were to describe treatment patterns and surgical procedures. ⋯ Moderate-to-severe chronic pain associated with CLBP-with or without OA-has a substantial impact on patients and healthcare providers, leading to higher HCRU and costs versus controls among people with CLBP alone or together with OA.

Mean Nocturnal Baseline Impedance (MNBI) Provides Evidence for Standardized Management Algorithms of Nonacid Gastroesophageal Reflux-Induced Chronic Cough.
The clinical management of nonacid gastroesophageal reflux-induced chronic cough (GERC) is challenging, and patient response to standard antireflux therapy (omeprazole 20 mg twice daily plus mosapride 10 mg thrice daily) is suboptimal. This study aimed to identify predictors of standard antireflux therapy efficacy and provide evidence for standardized management algorithms of nonacid GERC. ⋯ Proximal MNBI < 2140 Ω may be used to screen patients with nonacid GERC suitable for standard antireflux therapy and in standardized management algorithms for nonacid GERC. In the absence of MNBI, weakly acid reflux > 45 can be used as an auxiliary indicator.

Postoperative Adjuvant Treatment in Women with Stage I Endometrial Cancer: A Retrospective Study.
To evaluate whether postoperative adjuvant treatment is beneficial for patient survival after surgery for early stage endometrial cancer (EC). We analyzed the outcomes of patients treated with radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or progestagen combined with other adjuvant treatments. ⋯ This retrospective study showed that adjuvant therapy after surgery was not significantly associated with improved DFS or OS in patients with early stage endometrial cancer. However, FIGO stage and age affected the survival of patients with stage I endometrial cancer.

Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Levels in Type 2 Diabetes Patients in North China: Seasonality and the Association between Vitamin D Status and Glycosylated Hemoglobin Levels.
Previous studies have reported a correlation between vitamin D levels and seasonality in healthy populations. However, there are few studies on the seasonal variation in vitamin D levels and its relationship with glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The objective of this study was to investigate seasonal changes in serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels and the associations between these vitamin D concentrations and HbA1c levels in T2DM patients in Hebei, China. ⋯ Vitamin D deficiencies are particularly prevalent among T2DM patients in Hebei, China, with exceptionally high rates in the winter and spring. Female T2DM patients were at an elevated risk of vitamin D deficiency, and vitamin D levels were negatively correlated with HbA1c.
