What Is the Place of Intermediate Care Unit in Patients with COVID-19? A Single Center Experience.
COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increased rate of intensive care unit (ICU) stays. Intermediate care units (IMCUs) are a useful resource for the management of patients with severe COVID-19 that do not require ICU admission. In this research, we aimed to determine survival outcomes and parameters predicting mortality in patients who have been admitted to IMCU. ⋯ IMCU seems to have a positive effect on survival in patients with severe COVID-19 infection. Close monitoring of these parameters and early intervention may improve survival rates and outcomes.

Influencing Factors of Massive Hemorrhage and High-Grade Renal Vascular Injury after PCNL: A Retrospective Comparative Study.
Severe hemorrhage after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is a rare but alerting event. In this study, we report the factors affecting massive hemorrhage after PCNL, various levels of vascular damage during renal angiography, and the therapeutic effect of superselective renal artery embolization (SRAE). Patients and Methods. A retrospective analysis was performed on the data of 69 patients with postoperative PCNL hemorrhage who underwent SRAE from January 2010 to March 2021. Inclusion criteria for all cases were failure of conservative treatment for severe renal hemorrhage after surgery and then treatment with SRAE. In addition, 98 patients without significant hemorrhage after PCNL were randomly selected as the control group. All clinical data are confirmed by imaging and laboratory examinations. We performed univariate and multivariate analyses to find risk factors of massive hemorrhage and high-grade renal vascular injury after PCNL. ⋯ During the perioperative period of PCNL, patients with a risk of hypertension, urinary tract infection, and no hydronephrosis should be strengthened to monitor their high risk of postoperative hemorrhage. For patients with postoperative hemorrhage, we can use the patient's age and decreased hemoglobin before and after operation for analysis. In this way, individualized assessment can greatly improve the efficiency of SRAE treatment.

The Association between Deoxyribonucleic Acid Hypermethylation in Intron VII and Human Leukocyte Antigen-C∗07 Expression in Patients with Endometriosis.
Endometriosis, which is a common disease affecting approximately 10% of women of reproductive age, usually causes dysmenorrhea and infertility, thus seriously harming the patients' physical and mental health. However, there is a mean delay of 6.7 years between the onset of the symptoms and the surgical diagnosis of endometriosis. There is an increasing amount of evidence that suggests that epigenetic aberrations, including deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) methylation, play a definite role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. This study aimed to explore the noninvasive or minimally invasive biomarkers of this disease. ⋯ Deoxyribonucleic acid hypermethylation in the intron VII of the HLA-C∗07 gene appears to regulate the expression of HLA-C∗07. The aberrant DNA methylation in this region was positively correlated with the occurrence of endometriosis.

Observational StudyPerspectives and Knowledge about Fertility Preservation Strategies among Female Cancer Patients in Turkey.
To evaluate the knowledge level and perspectives of female cancer patients regarding fertility preservation techniques before gonadotoxic treatment. Material and Methods. This was a prospective observational survey-based study conducted between 2016 and 2020 in Izmir Economy University Medical Park Hospital. A total of 150 female cancer patients aged 18-42 years were included. The participants completed a 17-item questionnaire, developed by the research team to evaluate their knowledge and perspectives on fertility preservation techniques. ⋯ The rate of referral of reproductive-age cancer patients to fertility preservation counseling is still not satisfactory. Education level was the only variable significantly associated with a motivation to become pregnant after cancer treatment, either spontaneously or through fertility preservation techniques.

Quality of Life and Psychometric Characteristics of Syrian Refugee Physicians Who Migrated to Turkey: A Cross-Sectional Study.
The concept of migration comes with various problems, affecting the quality of life and psychological state of immigrants. This study aimed to investigate the quality of life and depression and anxiety states of physicians who immigrated to Turkey after the civil war that started in Syria in 2011. ⋯ The overall quality of life of most refugee physicians in Turkey was high, and the BDI and BAI scores were also below the threshold values. Further qualitative studies that allow in-depth analyses may reveal underlying factors for this situation.
