Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Analysis on the Relationship between the Mandibular Third Molar and the Position of the Mandibular Canal in Koreans from the Yanbian Area and the Han People.
To analyze differences in the positional relationships between the mandibular third molar (MTM) and the mandibular canal in Korean and Han patients using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to provide a basis for preoperative risk assessments. ⋯ There are some differences in the positional relationship between the mandibular canal in the MTM region and the rate of cortical bone disruption between Koreans from the Yanbian area and the Hans. This should gain clinical attention.

Nigelladine A among Selected Compounds from Nigella sativa Exhibits Propitious Interaction with Omicron Variant of SARS-CoV-2: An In Silico Study.
COVID-19 has been a threat to the entire world for more than two years since its outbreak in December 2019 in Wuhan city of China. SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent, had been reported to mutate over time exposing new variants. To date, no impeccable cure for the disease has been unveiled. ⋯ From the findings, the present study suggests that Nigelladine A showed the most promising results among the selected molecules. This framework, however, interprets only a group of computational analyses on selected phytochemicals. Further investigations are required to validate the compound as a promising drug against the selected variant of SARS-CoV-2.

Observational Studyα-Klotho: An Early Risk-Predictive Biomarker for Acute Kidney Injury in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) was a common and serious complication in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Novel biomarkers and therapies were deficient and imperative for AKI's early diagnosis and therapy after AMI. α-Klotho was considered as an early biomarker and potential therapy for AKI recently. Previous studies reported that the expression of α-Klotho was decreased in AKI rodents, and supplement of α-Klotho alleviated kidney injury. Nevertheless, its effect has not been studied in patients presenting with AMI. ⋯ Compared with traditional cardiac and renal biomarkers, serum α-Klotho could be a more appropriate predict biomarker for AKI after AMI in patients' eGFR >60 ml/min ∗ 1.73 m2. Higher α-Klotho levels are related to the development of AKI during hospitalization and suggest a higher prevalence of CKD after discharge. By contrary to animal experiments, whether the increased expression of α-Klotho could be a protective factor secreted by AKI after AMI, is remained to be further studied.

A Machine Learning-Based Classification of Immunogenic Cell Death Regulators and Characterisation of Immune Microenvironment in Acute Ischemic Stroke.
Immunogenic cell death (ICD) regulators exert a crucial part in quite a few in numerous biological processes. This study aimed to determine the function and diagnostic value of ICD regulators in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). 31 significant ICD regulators were identified from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) database in this work (the combination of the GSE16561 dataset and the GSE37587 dataset in the comparison of non-AIS and AIS patients). The random forest model was applied and 15 potential ICD regulators were screened to forecast the probability of AIS. ⋯ The expression levels of NFKB1, NFKB2, and PARP1 were greater in gene cluster A than in gene cluster B. In conclusion, ICD regulators exerted a crucial part in the progress of AIS. The investigation made by us on ICD patterns perhaps informs prospective immunotherapeutic methods for AIS.

Relationship between Body Mass Index and Bone Turnover Markers in Girls with Idiopathic Central Precocious Puberty.
This study aimed to determine the effect of body mass index (BMI) on bone turnover markers in girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty (ICPP) according to weight status at diagnosis. ⋯ Our findings showed that BMI was associated with P1NP, revealing the reduction of bone formation in overweight and obese girls with ICPP. During the diagnosis and treatment of girls with ICPP, attention should be paid to body weight and bone metabolism.
