Observational StudyEffects of open and closed suction systems on the haemodynamic parameters in cardiac surgery patients.
This study was carried out to determine the effects of open and closed suction systems on haemodynamic parameters of the patients who underwent open heart surgery. ⋯ The closed suction system is recommended since it contributes to the enhancement of patient safety and the quality of nursing care.

Nurses' self-confidence and attitudes in using the Glasgow Coma Scale: a primary study.
The aim of this study was to examine nurses' self-confidence and attitudes towards the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS). ⋯ Mentoring and educational interventions are suggested in order to reduce safety risks resulting from lower proficiency in using the GCS.

Weaning from mechanical ventilation: factors that influence intensive care nurses' decision-making.
The aim of the study was to describe the factors that influence intensive care nurses' decision-making when weaning patients from mechanical ventilation. ⋯ The individual overall assessment of the patient enabled nursing care from a holistic perspective. Furthermore, the weaning process can be more effective and potential suffering reduced by creating awareness of the care culture's impact on the decision-making process.

Complications related to early mobilization of mechanically ventilated patients on Intensive Care Units.
To compare international literature on the detection of complications associated with early mobilization of mechanically ventilated patients in intensive care units (ICUs). ⋯ Despite a low complication rate, a frame for safety during early mobilization including team training and adapted criteria is recommended.
