At sonography, peripheral nerves have a fibrillar appearance, that is tape-like on longitudinal scans and ovoid on transverse scans. Nerves are composed by hypoechoic fascicules within a hyperechoic environment. ⋯ The purpose of this general review is to present, as clearly as possible, in two parts, the sonographic features of normal and pathological nerves of upper and lower limbs. This first part will discuss nerves of the upper limb.

[Fluoroscopy guided L5-S1 transforaminal injection as a treatement for s1 radiculopathy].
To assess the efficacy of fluoroscopy guided L5-S1 transforaminal steroid injections for the treatment of S1 radiculopathy secondary to intervertebral disk disorder. ⋯ Fluoroscopy guided L5-S1 transforaminal injection showed good efficacy in the treatment of S1 radiculopathy.

Acute gastric volvulus is an infrequent entity. Management is surgical. ⋯ The pathophysiology, classification and different presentations of this entity are briefly reviewed. CT findings suggesting gastric volvulus are reviewed as well.

The authors report a case of systemic air embolism after CT-guided transthoracic needle biopsy using an 18G cutting needle. CT performed immediately after the occurrence of neurological signs showed air within the left ventricle but no air within the cerebral arteries. Radiologists must be aware of this extremely rare but potentially severe complication to provide accurate diagnosis and treatment.
