More and more people worldwide and also in Germany are using botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) and hyaluronic acid injections for skin rejuvenation. ⋯ In the first study of body image and self-esteem in users of BoNT‑A and/or dermal fillers in German women, the users showed no signs of body dysmorphic patterns or disorders of self-esteem.

Rating the response of melanoma to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) by conventional CT proves to be difficult, since response patterns and kinetics differ from the classical responses seen with other therapies. Hence, immune-related response criteria were developed. However, they are mainly based on the alteration of the diameter of lesions over time but do not include metabolic activity. ⋯ In addition to the size of a tumor lesion, its metabolic activity adds important information regarding treatment response. Thus, we propose that the metabolic activity assessed with 18F-FDG-PET/CT should be included in the immune response criteria. No FDG uptake in a lesion should be rated as inactive tumor rather than SD and further treatment may not be required.

Sarcoidosis is a rare multisystem inflammatory disease of largely unknown etiology. While pulmonary sarcoidosis is the most abundant organ manifestation, involvement of the skin that occurs in up to 30% of patients is the most common extrapulmonary presentation of the disease. Dermatologists therefore play an important role not only for establishing the diagnosis and delineating it from potential differential diagnoses but also for the interdisciplinary care of the patient. ⋯ Since a variety of organ systems can be affected, multidisciplinary cooperation is mandatory. Therapy of sarcoidosis is difficult; evidence-based studies and therapy guidelines are widely lacking. Our review intends to outline the characteristic clinical presentations of cutaneous sarcoidosis, describe the diagnostic approach and how to assure or exclude extracutaneous manifestations of sarcoidosis, and suggest a therapy algorithm for the treatment of skin sarcoidosis.

The treatment of solar urticaria is regarded as difficult. In some cases good responses to the anti-IgE antibody omalizumab (Xolair®), approved for treatment of chronic spontaneous urticaria, have been reported. We report on a 50-year-old Caucasian woman who for the last 5 years has developed localized itching and stinging erythemas following exposure to sunlight accompanied sometimes by anaphylactic reactions. ⋯ On the other hand, MUD for UVA1 remained unchanged (5.0 J/cm2). The weekly urticarial activity score (UAS7) was reduced from 30 points before omalizumab administration to 14 points in weeks two and three. Overall, a partial response of solar urticaria to omalizumab therapy could be observed in the present case.
