[Anterior cruciate ligament injuries: does surgical treatment with autograft versus allograft option affect the clinical results?].
We investigated the clinical outcome of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions with allograft or autograft. ⋯ Our results suggest that differences in graft options for ACL reconstruction have no effect on the clinical outcome. Allografts with to-be-developed solutions to immune response may be a good alternative in ACL reconstruction.

The effect of carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum on the severity of peritonitis.
There are still some doubts regarding the reliability of laparoscopic interventions in the presence of generalized peritonitis. The aim of the present experimental study was to investigate the effects of carbon dioxide (CO2) pneumoperitoneum on inflammatory response and peritonitis severity score in experimental peritonitis. ⋯ The results of this study show that CO2 pneumoperitoneum decreases peritonitis severity and systemic inflammatory response in experiments with E. coli-peritonitis and sepsis.

Case ReportsContact with wet cement: an unrecognized cause of chemical burn.
Chemical burns account for a small percentage of admissions to burn units. Wet cement is a poorly recognized cause of chemical burn. As the construction industry is growing, individuals will likely have more contact with this material and be more prone to its harmful effects. ⋯ The lack of information about the potential hazards of wet cement makes it an important problem that must be considered more seriously as a risk factor for chemical burn. Increasing public knowledge of the necessary preventive measures is crucial for avoiding this type of chemical burn injury. Here, we report a case with full-thickness burn that occurred while working with wet cement without proper protection.

Long-term outcome of unreamed intramedullary nails in femur diaphyseal fractures.
We evaluated the results of patients with traumatic femur diaphyseal fracture who had undergone biologic fixation with unreamed intramedullary nailing. ⋯ Sparing of the endosteal and periosteal circulation, low infection and high union rates, and good functional outcomes of unreamed intramedullary nailing fixation make it the treatment of choice for simple and comminuted fractures of the femur shaft, especially for multi-trauma patients and patients with cardiopulmonary comorbidities.

Case ReportsDelayed diagnosis of traumatic diaphragmatic rupture with herniation of the liver: a case report.
Diaphragmatic rupture is a potentially life-threatening clinical situation. It occurs as a result of high-velocity blunt or penetrating injury to the abdomen and thorax. Acute traumatic rupture of the diaphragm may go undetected, and there is often a delay between the injury and diagnosis. ⋯ Since clinical signs and symptoms were nonspecific, helical computed tomography was done, which revealed diaphragmatic rupture with hepatothorax. Emergency thoracotomy was done to repair diaphragmatic rent. The postoperative period was uneventful, and the patient was discharged three weeks later.
