Case ReportsPancreatic cystic echinococcosis causing acute pancreatitis.
Echinococcosis is a zoonotic infestation, most commonly arises from Echinococcus granulosus helminth. The definitive hosts are carnivora, such as dogs and cats, and the intermediate hosts are herbivores, including cattle, sheep and goats. Humans are intermediate hosts, causing cystic echinococcosis. ⋯ IHA of the patient was found as 1/32 in the third month. Cyst hydatid should be considered in the differential diagnosis of all cystic masses, especially in the regions where the disease is endemic. In addition, it should be remembered that although rarely seen, pancreatic cyst hydatid may cause acute pancreatitis.

Different approaches in diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of acute biliary pancreatitis: Results of attitude survey.
Acute biliary pancreatitis is one of the most frequently encountered diseases among general surgeons in emergency surgical diseases. Differences in diagnosis and treatment management of these patients, varying from physician to physician, are common in clinical practice. We aimed to present these differences and discuss the results in the light of current guidelines in the literature. ⋯ According to the attitude survey results, there are differences between general surgery specialists in the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of acute biliary pancreatitis.

Older patients with intraventricular hemorrhage are prone to infection after external ventricular drainage.
External ventricular drainage (EVD) is a life-saving and emergent procedure in neurosurgery. However, infection is the main problem in patients with EVD. The present study aims to analyze the infection rate of patients with EVD and to investigate the factors that contribute to infection and mortality rates. ⋯ The duration of EVD should be shorter in patients older than 65 years with the diagnosis of intraventricular hemorrhage, which is mostly related to dea.

Ameliorating the effects of Adalimumab on rabbits with experimental cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Adalimumab (ADA), which is a new-generation recombinant human monoclonal antibody for tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), has strong anti-inflammatory effects. The role of enhanced inflammation is well established for the development and progression of cerebral vasospasm. Investigated in the present study is the probable ameliorating and neuroprotective effects of ADA in rabbits using a cerebral vasospasm model with biochemical and histopathological methods. ⋯ Findings obtained in this study suggest that ADA is an effective neuroprotective agent for ameliorating cerebral vasospasm in experimental rabbit vasospasm.

Case ReportsTension gastrothorax secondary to trauma in the emergency room: A case report.
In tension gastrothorax, the abdominal contents are displaced into the thorax, leading to a mediastinal shift that arises from the pressure placed on the intrathoracic region. This condition is often due to a congenital or acquired (secondary to surgery) diaphragmatic defect and is rarely seen secondary to trauma. A 40-year-old man presented to the emergency department after an in-vehicle traffic accident. ⋯ The patient underwent open surgery. Traumatic tension gastrothorax should be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute-onset severe respiratory failure. It can be diagnosed by rapid clinical and radiological evaluation.
