Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialAssociation of allergy-related symptoms with sensitisation to common allergens in an adult European population.
Atopy is an important risk factor for asthma and allergic diseases. However, the relationship between atopy and allergic symptoms is not fully understood, and may not be the same for different allergy related symptoms and in differing environmental conditions. ⋯ The risk of allergic symptoms and sensitisation and their association vary widely in different European countries.

Case ReportsClinical and immunological spectrum of partial DiGeorge syndrome.
We present four cases of DiGeorge syndrome diagnosed at our center. Onset occurred during the neonatal period and was associated with severe congenital heart disease. In case 1, the patient had heart disease and absence of thymus. ⋯ The cases were recorded during a 2-year period, between 1997 and 1998. The prevalence of DiGeorge syndrome in the number of admissions for congenital heart disease among the neonates at our hospital was 3.14%. Presentation in the form of repeated infections is rare, since most cases of DiGeorge syndrome are partial, and functional cellular immunity is preserved.

Case ReportsTelangiectasia macularis eruptiva perstans presented as a pseudoallergic food reaction.
Telangiectasia macularis eruptiva perstans (TMEP) is a rare form of cutaneous mastocytosis observed in less than 1% of cases of mastocytosis. Clinically, anaphylaxis may appear as a result of increased mast cell degranulation in different circumstances. A case of TMEP presented as pseudoallergic reactions to foods is reported in which the appearance of typical lesions on the trunk and their histological analysis together with a negative food allergy study confirmed the diagnosis.

We describe a case of severe systemic reactions caused from poppy seed ingestion. Poppy seeds were suspected to be responsible for the symptoms on the basis of the clinical history. ⋯ Moreover, a RAST assay was conducted with an extract of fresh food, confirming the presence of specific IgE to poppy seed. Although poppy seeds are not commonly used, we highlight the possible importance of such rare and often hidden sources of allergens.

A 65-year-old woman experienced immediate itchy erythematous patches at the subcutaneous injection sites of sodium enoxaparin. An erythematous and infiltrated 40 x 20 mm lesion on the abdominal wall could be observed at the site of enoxaparin injection when she was referred to our clinic 48 h after injection. Lesions subsided spontaneously within 1 week. ⋯ Being female, overweight and having prolonged application of the drug were suggested risk factors present in our patient. Biopsy was essential for diagnosis. Although type IV hypersensitivity reactions to enoxaparin are rare, we should start to suspect this condition in order not to underdiagnose it.
