Robotic technology is nothing more than an enhancement along the continuum of laparoscopic technological advances and represents only the beginning of numerous more forthcoming advances. It constitutes a major improvement in the efficiency, accuracy, ease, and comfort associated with the performance of laparoscopic operations. ⋯ In our hands, robotic operative times for simple and radical hysterectomy are shorter than those obtained by conventional laparoscopy. Robotic technology is preferable to conventional laparoscopic instrumentation for the surgical treatment of gynecologic malignancies and most operations for benign disease of certain complexity such as hysterectomy myomectomy, and invasive pelvic endometriosis.

Case ReportsTwo cases of post-radiation osteosarcoma of the sacrum after pelvic irradiation for uterine cervical cancer.
Post-radiation pelvic bone sarcoma can result as a long-term sequela of pelvic irradiation for uterine cervical cancer. ⋯ When a bone lesion is observed at a previously irradiated field, post-radiation sarcoma should be considered and differentiated from bone metastases.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of lornoxicam with tramadol in patient-controlled analgesia after gynecological surgery.
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of lornoxicam and tramadol in patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) after gynecological surgery. ⋯ Tramadol and lornoxicam may be used for pain control after gynecological surgery via PCA. However, we conclude that tramadol has better analgesic efficacy than lornoxicam during the first 12 hours postoperatively.

Surgical pathologic factors in patients with early-stage cervical carcinoma treated with radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection: association with administration of adjuvant radiotherapy and effect on survival.
To identify surgical pathologic factors that best correlate with administration of adjuvant radiotherapy and best predict survival in early-stage cervical carcinoma treated with radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection (RHND). ⋯ In patients with early-stage cervical carcinoma treated with radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection, pelvic lymph node status is the strongest factor affecting administration of adjuvant radiotherapy and the most significant predictor of survival.

Physicians' attitudes, beliefs and knowledge concerning ovarian cancer.
To determine physicians' attitudes, beliefs and knowledge concerning surgical care of women with ovarian cancer. ⋯ We have shown that peer influence has reached a ceiling effect in ovarian cancer and novel approaches are required to ensure appropriate referrals, knowledge transfer and provincial resourcing to expert centers to provide optimal surgical care for women with ovarian cancer.
