Most BRCA1/2 carriers do not undergo risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) by the recommended age. This study aimed to find the incidence of precursor lesions and cancer after RRSO. ⋯ Many patients still tend to delay RRSO until after they are 40 years old. Our findings support the significance of RRSO before the age of 40 in germline BRCA mutation carriers.

To assess the feasibility of laparoscopic cytoreduction in patients with localized recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) by comparing its outcomes to those of laparotomy. ⋯ The laparoscopic approach is feasible without compromising morbidity and survival in selected groups of patients with recurrent EOC. The laparoscopic approach can be a possible treatment option for recurrent EOC.

We investigated the prognostic value of intratumoral [¹⁸F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake heterogeneity (IFH) derived from positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with cervical cancer. ⋯ Preoperative IFH was significantly associated with cervical cancer recurrence. [¹⁸F]FDG based heterogeneity may be a useful and potential predicator of patient recurrence before treatment.

The aim of this paper was to describe the operative details for en bloc removal of the adnexal tumor, uterus, pelvic peritoneum, and rectosigmoid colon with colorectal anastomosis in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer patients with widespread pelvic involvement. ⋯ En bloc pelvic resection is effective for achieving maximal cytoreduction with the elimination of the pelvic disease in advanced primary ovarian cancer patients with extensive pelvic organ involvement.

Sweet's syndrome, or acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis, is a condition characterized by fever, neutrophilia, erythematous skin lesions, and a dermal infiltrate consisting predominantly of mature neutrophils on histology. Sweet's syndrome is a reactive phenomenon and should be considered a cutaneous marker of systemic disease, including underlying malignancy. We present a case of a 56-year-old woman who presented with vague abdominal symptoms and a tender, erythematous rash on her extremities. ⋯ A work-up for malignancy eventually demonstrated a pelvic mass and carcinomatosis, and a diagnosis of advanced-stage papillary serous ovarian carcinoma was subsequently made. In postmenopausal women who present with Sweet's syndrome, a comprehensive evaluation for malignancy is indicated. In women with a known diagnosis of cancer, Sweet's syndrome may manifest in the detection of persistent or recurrent disease.
