Patelloplasty with patellar decompression to relieve anterior knee pain in total knee arthroplasty.
Anterior knee pain continues to be an important problem following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The aim of this study was to present the early results of patelloplasty with patellar decompression to relieve anterior knee pain in patients who undergo TKA. ⋯ Patellar decompression with patelloplasty in TKA is an option for the reduction of anterior knee pain, but there is a lack of significant evidence in the literature, demonstrating that this method is superior to patellar resurfacing and patellar retention.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison between operative and nonoperative treatment methods in the management of comminuted fractures of the clavicle.
To evaluate the outcome and satisfaction of closed treatment versus open reduction and internal fixation in comminuted clavicular fractures. ⋯ Open reduction and internal fixation of comminuted fractures of the clavicle using a reconstruction plate is an effective treatment modality. Despite the variety of complications, this method has a higher satisfaction rate than conservative treatment.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyThe comparison of the effects of intraoperative bleeding control and postoperative drain clamping methods on the postoperative blood loss and the need for transfusion following total knee arthroplasty.
We aimed to determine and compare the effects of intraoperative bleeding control and two hours postoperative drain clamping method on postoperative wound drainage and the need for donor blood transfusion following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ The two hour drain clamping method without intraoperative bleeding control does not seem to affect the amount of blood loss and the need for transfusion when compared to intraoperative bleeding control in total knee arthroplasty patients. Hovewer, it is a simple and feasible method and can be used to decrease the operation time.

Comparative StudyFixed-angle volar plates in corrective osteotomies of malunions of dorsally angulated distal radius fractures.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the radiological and functional outcomes of corrective osteotomy of malunited, dorsally tilted distal radius fractures, using fixed-angle volar plates. ⋯ Fixed-angle volar plates provide a stable fixation after corrective osteotomies of the distal radius and might be a safer alternative to conventional fixation methods.

Randomized Controlled TrialSpinal anesthesia and combined sciatic nerve/lumbar plexus block techniques in lower extremity orthopedic surgery.
In lower extremity orthopedic surgeries, central and peripheral regional anesthesia techniques can be used along with general anesthesia, mainly in elderly patients with accompanying maladies. This study investigates the efficiency of spinal anesthesia and combined sciatic nerve/lumbar plexus block techniques in lower extremity orthopedic surgery in terms of patient-surgeon satisfaction. ⋯ Both standard anesthesia and combined sciatic/lumbar plexus nerve block were effective in lower extremity orthopedic surgeries. Although surgery preparation time was longer in the CSLPB group, patient-surgeon satisfaction was similar in both groups.
