Comparative StudyFixed-angle volar plates in corrective osteotomies of malunions of dorsally angulated distal radius fractures.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the radiological and functional outcomes of corrective osteotomy of malunited, dorsally tilted distal radius fractures, using fixed-angle volar plates. ⋯ Fixed-angle volar plates provide a stable fixation after corrective osteotomies of the distal radius and might be a safer alternative to conventional fixation methods.

Randomized Controlled TrialSpinal anesthesia and combined sciatic nerve/lumbar plexus block techniques in lower extremity orthopedic surgery.
In lower extremity orthopedic surgeries, central and peripheral regional anesthesia techniques can be used along with general anesthesia, mainly in elderly patients with accompanying maladies. This study investigates the efficiency of spinal anesthesia and combined sciatic nerve/lumbar plexus block techniques in lower extremity orthopedic surgery in terms of patient-surgeon satisfaction. ⋯ Both standard anesthesia and combined sciatic/lumbar plexus nerve block were effective in lower extremity orthopedic surgeries. Although surgery preparation time was longer in the CSLPB group, patient-surgeon satisfaction was similar in both groups.

Comparative StudyValidation of the Turkish version of the visual analog scale spine score in patients with spinal fractures.
The visual analog scale spine score (VASSS) is a valid and reliable instrument for outcome assessment of patients with thoracic and lumbar spine fractures. The aim of this study was to prepare a Turkish version of the VASSS and to validate its use for assessing treatment outcomes in Turkish patients with spinal trauma. ⋯ The Turkish version of the VASSS is a reliable and valid instrument to assess the outcome in patients with thoracic or lumbar spinal fractures in the Turkish population.

Comparative StudyLower extremity soft tissue reconstruction with free flap based on subscapular artery.
The purpose of our study was to evaluate the results of the reconstruction of the lower extremity defects with free flaps based on the subscapular artery. ⋯ The subscapular vascular system based flaps have an optimal vascularity once they are prepared with adequate pedicles, causing minimal donor site morbidity. These flaps are a safe and effective alternative in lower extremity reconstruction. On the other hand, in the absence of appropriate recipient vessels, single or combined cross-leg free flaps may provide successful repair.

Treatment of Neer Type 2 fractures of the distal clavicle with coracoclavicular screw.
The aim of this study was to assess the outcome of coracoclavicular screw fixation in displaced distal clavicular fractures. ⋯ Coracoclavicular screw fixation in the treatment of distal clavicular fractures is a reliable, simple and cost effective technique.
