[The results of internal fixation of proximal humeral fractures with the PHILOS locking plate].
Proximal and diaphyseal humeral fractures are common especially in the elderly, presenting as a challenging problem due to their high complication rates following surgical treatment. In this prospective study, we evaluated the results of patients treated with the PHILOS (Proximal Humeral Internal Locking System) locking plate, a new technique recently developed by the AO/ASIF. ⋯ Locking plate system is superior over other means of fixation methods, particularly in osteoporotic fractures, because it allows early rehabilitation and does not result in implant failure.

[Long-term results of total hip arthroplasty in patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis].
We evaluated the long-term results of total hip arthroplasty (THA) in patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). ⋯ Even though it is performed at young ages, THA considerably improves quality of life of patients with JRA having hip joint involvement and has a comparable implant survival.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in motorcycle accidents in parallel with the increasing number of motorcyclists. Data on motorcycle accidents/injuries are relatively limited in Turkey. This study sought to determine the injury profile of patients involved in motorcycle accidents. ⋯ Since motorcycle accidents are preventable or associated risks for injuries are reducible, risk factors for our country should be determined, necessary laws and restrictive regulations should be put into practice, and educational programs should be implemented.

This study was designed to assess the results of surgical treatment for type 2-3 coronoid process fractures and to identify factors that might influence the outcome. ⋯ Coronoid fractures are the most important component of complex elbow injuries. The presence of comminuted fractures, associated bone and ligament injuries, and post-traumatic arthritis affect the outcome adversely.
