Case ReportsHip dislocation associated with ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fractures: an unusual combination and dilemma regarding head preservation.
Traumatic posterior hip dislocation associated with a fracture of the femoral neck is a rare injury. The combination of posterior dislocation of the femoral head with ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fractures is even rarer, with only one such case reported in literature. ⋯ The radiographs revealed union of all fractures without evidence of avascular necrosis of the femoral head at final follow-up of two years. This case is of particular interest as it highlights some of the important factors in deciding between head preservation versus arthroplasty for this complex fracture-dislocation.

Case ReportsDeep vein thrombosis after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in a patient with primary thrombocytopenia.
Deep vein thrombosis is a rare complication after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. We present a patient with primary thrombocytopenia who had deep vein thrombosis after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The patient recovered well at a 2-year follow-up. The purpose of this study was to enhance the awareness on venous thrombosis, a rare complication after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

An assessment of sleep quality in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty before and after surgery.
The aim of this study was to compare the sleep quality of patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty before and after the surgery and analyze the effect of total knee arthroplasty on sleep quality. ⋯ Our results suggested that total knee arthroplasty surgery relieves pain and improves sleep quality. The improvement in sleep quality does not appear to be related to pain relief.

Comparative StudyInfluence of number and orientation of screws on stability in the internal fixation of unstable femoral neck fractures.
The aim of this study was to biomechanically compare 3 different cannulated screw configurations used in internal fixation of unstable femoral neck fractures. ⋯ The use of a transverse screw in the calcar in addition to cannulated screws parallel to the neck appear to provide stability benefit in the treatment of unstable femoral neck fractures.
