Review Meta AnalysisIs tranexamic acid clinically effective and safe to prevent blood loss in total knee arthroplasty? A meta-analysis of 34 randomized controlled trials.
Tranexamic acid (TXA) is well established as a versatile intraarticular and intravenous (IV) antifibrinolytic agent that has been successfully used to control bleeding after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The present meta-analysis aimed at assessing the effectiveness and safety of TXA in reducing blood loss and transfusion in TKA. ⋯ Level II.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyBipolar versus unipolar hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fractures in the elder patient: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials.
To assess the safety and efficacy that compare bipolar hemiarthroplasty with unipolar hemiarthroplasty for the treatment of femoral neck fracture in the patient aged more than 65 years. ⋯ Both bipolar and unipolar hemiarthroplasty for the treatment of elderly patient suffering displaced femoral neck fracture achieve similar and satisfy clinical outcome in short-term follow-up. Unipolar hemiarthroplasty seems to be a more cost-effectiveness option for elderly patient.

Outcome of 28 open pilon fractures with injury severity-based fixation.
Open pilon fracture management and treatment poses a significant challenge to orthopedic surgeons. The purpose of this study was to determine patient outcomes for open pilon fractures based on wound complication and infection rates, as well as subjective outcome instruments. ⋯ The use of staged wound debridement in conjunction with either plate fixation or Ilizarov frame achieves low rates of wound infection and stable fixation after anatomic joint reconstruction for OTA-type 43-B and 43-C open pilon fractures.

Comparative StudyTightRope versus clavicular hook plate fixation for unstable distal clavicular fractures.
This retrospective study aimed to compare the fracture union and functional results of clavicular hook plate fixation versus arthroscopy-assisted TightRope fixation of unstable fractures of the distal clavicle. ⋯ TightRope and clavicular hook plate repairs of unstable distal clavicular fractures result in similar fracture union and good clinical outcomes.
