ReviewTotal hip arthroplasty by direct anterior approach in the lateral position for the treatment of ankylosed hips.
To investigate the clinical efficacy of total hip arthroplasty (THA) via the direct anterior approach (DAA) for the treatment of hip ankylosis in the lateral position. ⋯ THA via the DAA for the treatment of hip ankylosis in the lateral position was safe and effective and had the advantage of reduced trauma, quicker recovery of hip function, lower incidence of postoperative dislocation and ability to expose the acetabulum fully and fit the prosthesis properly, providing satisfactory clinical efficacy.

Does overcorrection cause any negative effect on pediatric missed Monteggia lesion?
To evaluate the outcome of different types of ulna osteotomy in missed Monteggia fracture with a particular interest in anatomical correction and overcorrection techniques. The outcome between the two groups were compared on aspects of (1) clinical outcome (2) radiologic outcome. ⋯ The postoperative result of overcorrection ulna osteotomy showed significant inferiority in radiologic outcome compared to anatomical correction. Overcorrection of ulna osteotomy could be associated with posterior dislocation of radial head.

Factors associated with myonecrosis at time of fasciotomy in acute leg compartment syndrome.
The objective of this study is to determine factors associated with myonecrosis at the time of fasciotomy in patients with acute leg compartment syndrome. ⋯ Myonecrosis is associated with patient-related factors. Younger age by 10 years is associated with a 1.3 times increase and diabetes mellitus with a 3-time increase in the odds of myonecrosis. Serum creatine kinase at presentation greater than 2405 U/L denotes an almost 3 times increase in odds of myonecrosis and may be useful for preoperative counseling.

Deterioration of initially accepted radiological alignment of conservatively treated AO type-C distal radius fractures: mid-term outcome.
It still remains controversial how often the once-accepted radiological alignment of an AO type-C distal radius fracture deteriorates after conservative treatment, and to what extent this deterioration is perhaps associated with patient-rated outcome measures (PROms). Thus, we aimed to evaluate this radiological deterioration and its association with mid-term functional follow-up. ⋯ IV.

ReviewGraft choice for isolated MPFL reconstruction: gracilis versus semitendinosus.
After the first patellar dislocation, most patients report damage of the medio-patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) and surgical reconstruction is required. The purpose of this study is to systematically review current evidence and to clarify the role of the gracilis and semitendinosus tendons as graft for isolated MPFL reconstruction. ⋯ Isolated MPFL reconstruction through semitendinosus tendon graft performed better than the gracilis in selected patients suffering from recurrent patellofemoral instability.
