Case Reports
Stump appendicitis 10 years after appendectomy, a rare, but serious complication of appendectomy, a case report.
We describe a case of stump appendicitis with the formation of abdominal abscesses in a 41-year-old patient 10 years prior appendectomy. The patient consulted with fever (38.1 °C) and abdominal pain, located at the right iliac fossa. Imaging studies showed signs of abscesses, located at the right iliac fossa, without clear origin of these abscesses. ⋯ Stump appendicitis is a rare complication seen after appendectomy and is generally not considered a possible etiology in patients presenting with fever and right iliac fossa abdominal pain with a history of appendectomy. This often delays the correct diagnosis and results in an associated increased incidence of complications. We describe a case of stump appendicitis occurring 10 years after initial appendectomy.

Review Meta Analysis
Laparoscopic pyelolithotomy versus percutaneous nephrolithotomy for treatment of large renal pelvic calculi (diameter >2 cm): a meta-analysis.
To systematically assess the efficacy and safety of laparoscopic pyelolithotomy (LP) versus percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for the treatment of renal pelvic calculi >2 cm. ⋯ LP is an alternative for the treatment of large solitary renal stone. LP may have a higher stone-free rate, lesser blood loss, lower postoperation fever rate, while PCNL may have a lower length of hospital stay. However, further well designed and large volume randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery thymectomy versus open thymectomy in patients with myasthenia gravis: a meta-analysis.
Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) thymectomy has become a feasible treatment for myasthenia gravis (MG) in recent years. The objective of the present meta-analysis was to evaluate the perioperative characteristics, safety, and completely stable remission rate in patients with MG who received VATS or open thymectomy (OT). ⋯ Patients with MG undergoing VATS thymectomy achieved better surgical outcomes and fewer complications than those who received OT.

Case Reports
Laparoscopic repair of an iatrogenic intrapericardial diaphragmatic hernia using the falciform ligament flap.
Iatrogenic intrapericardial diaphragmatic hernia after creation of a pericardial-peritoneal window is a very rare entity. We present the clinical case of an acute intestinal bowel obstruction due to herniation of small bowel into the pericardial sac. After laparoscopic reduction of the herniated small bowel, the diaphragmatic defect was successfully repaired using the hepatic falciform ligament.

Cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) is a common complication and is associated with the poorest outcomes. Therefore, early prediction of CSA-AKI remains a major issue. Severity scores such as the STS score could estimate the risk of AKI preoperatively. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the risk factors of on-pump CSA-AKI and to assess the performance of the STS score in order to predict CSA-AKI. ⋯ On-pump CSA-AKI was observed in nearly 15% of cases and was associated with poorer outcomes. Interestingly, the risk of CSA-AKI could be estimated preoperatively, thanks to the basal renal function, which exhibited an equal performance to the STS score.
