Despite technical and medical advances, aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhages (SAH) continue to be a challenging pathology, associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. In this regard, a definition is required of the various prognostic indicators of an SAH. The aim of the present retrospective study is to examine the various prognostic factors of the clinical outcomes of the patients who underwent a neurosurgical clipping of aneurysms due to aneurysmal SAH. ⋯ The most important prognostic factors in patients undergoing surgery due to aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage were WFNS grade, age, size of aneurysm and clinical vasospasm.

To observe the outcome of burr hole evacuation of extradural hematoma (EDH) in mass head injury. ⋯ As EDH is potentially fatal lesion, evacuation of EDH through a single burr hole has good outcome with less chances of recurrence and complications in mass head injured patients as seen with earthquakes.

Insular gliomas have traditionally been approached through variations of large frontotemporal craniotomies exposing much of the Sylvian fissure. Due to the importance of many structures exposed by such an approach, a less-invasive approach to these lesions is a viable alternative for resection. We present the technique and results of our keyhole transsylvian approach to remove infiltrating insular tumors. ⋯ Localized insular gliomas can be effectively removed through a minimally invasive approach without increasing the risk of neurological morbidity. This minimizes manipulation of uninvolved, potentially eloquent cortices, and minimizes damage to the overlying soft tissue.

Decompressive hemicraniectomy for a malignant middle cerebral artery infarct can be a life-saving surgical treatment. We aimed to investigate the surgical treatment results in cases that underwent decompressive hemicraniectomy for a malignant middle cerebral artery infarct in this study. ⋯ Decompressive hemicraniectomy in malignant middle cerebral artery infarct can be a life-saving procedure but is not useful in cases with a Glasgow coma scale score of 7 and below.

Comparison of Etanercept, Etomidate and Erythropoietin and Their Combinations in Experimentally-Induced Spinal Cord Injury.
The aim of this study was to compare the preventive effects of Etanercept, Etomidate, Erythropoietin and their combination in experimentally induced spinal cord trauma by clinical, histopathological, electrophysiological parameters and biochemical examination. ⋯ The neuroprotective activity of etomidate was suspect. The neuroprotective effect of etanercept and erythropoietin after SCI was shown in individual and combined applications in this study. However, more experimental studies are needed for clinical use.
