A variety of subdural pathologies that may mimic hematomas are reported in the literature. We aimed to identify the atypical clinical and radiologic presentations of subdural masses that may mimic subdural hematomas. ⋯ Identification of atypical history and radiologic features should prompt further diagnostic tests, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to elucidate the proper diagnosis, given that certain pathologies may be managed nonsurgically. A subdural collection that is hyperdense on CT scan and hyperintense on T2-weighted MRI, along with a history of progressive headache with no trauma, may raise the suspicion of an atypical subdural pathology.

Is mini-plate fixation superior to suture suspensory fixation in cervical laminoplasty?:A Meta-Analysis.
Owing to the small sample sizes in individual studies reported to date, whether or not mini-plate fixation is better than suture suspensory fixation in unilateral open-door laminoplasty is unclear. Thus, we conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate which fixation method is superior in cervical laminoplasty for patients with multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy (MCSM). ⋯ Although suture suspensory fixation was associated with better postoperative JOA scores, mini-plate fixation was superior in reducing the incidence of surgical complications. To avoid severe surgical complications, mini-plate fixation is a good choice for laminoplasty for patients with MCSM. Valid evidence depends on more high-quality, randomized controlled trials in the future.

From Luessenhop's early clinical experience until the present day, experimental methods have been introduced to make progress in endovascular neurosurgery. ⋯ We must learn how to safely practice endovascular neurosurgery in the presence of uncertainty and verify patient outcomes in real time.

Basiespinal Cerebrospinal Fluid Leak as a Complication after Adenoidectomy: Case Report and Literature Review.
Adenoidectomy is one of the most common procedures in the field of pediatric otolaryngology. Postoperative bleeding is one of the most frequent complications (0.4%). In turn, cerebrospinal fluid fistula is a very uncommon but critical complication in this type of surgery. ⋯ Cerebrospinal fluid leak as a complication after adenoidectomy is exceedingly rare. These pharyngospinal fistulae are determined by the anatomic features associated with intraoperative hemorrhagic complications, and it is essential that we take them into account when facing postoperative complications in the follow-up. The use of vascularized flaps based on the irrigation of the ascending pharyngeal artery with endoscopic techniques offers low-morbidity solutions, which are more efficient than traditional methods.

Image guidance for the placement of Ommaya reservoirs: A comparison of fluoroscopy and frameless stereotactic navigation in 145 patients.
Ommaya reservoirs are used for administration of intrathecal chemotherapy and cerebrospinal fluid sampling. Ventricular catheter placement for these purposes requires a high degree of accuracy. Various options exist to optimize catheter placement. We analyze a cohort of patients receiving catheters using 2 different technologies. ⋯ Ommaya reservoirs can be placed accurately using different methods. Although there are slight differences between fluoroscopy and frameless stereotaxy in quantitative accuracy and procedure time, there is no significant advantage of 1 method over the other when evaluating revision or complication rates. Technique familiarity and surgeon preference may dictate the preferred procedure.
