We tested the prognostic value of cumulative intracranial tumor volume (CITV) in the context of a disease-specific Graded Prognostic Assessment (ds-GPA) model for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients with brain metastasis (BM) treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). ⋯ CITV is an important prognostic variable in SRS-treated RCC patients with BM. The prognostic value of the ds-GPA scale for RCC brain metastasis was enhanced by the incorporation of CITV.

Metastatic Basal Cell Adenocarcinoma of Submandibular Gland to the Spine: An Extremely Rare Condition. A Case Report.
Basal cell adenocarcinomas are rare malignant neoplasms of salivary glands, accounting for <1% of salivary gland tumors. Few cases of distant metastases have been reported. ⋯ This case highlighted an extremely rare condition of metastatic basal cell adenocarcinoma of the submandibular gland to the lung and spine, which, to our knowledge, has not been previously reported in the literature.

Application of nerve root block is mainly for diagnosis with less application in intraoperative treatment. The aim of this study was to observe clinical and imaging outcomes of application of gelatin sponge impregnated with a mixture of 3 drugs to intraoperative nerve root block combined with robot-assisted minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion surgery in to treat adult degenerative lumbar scoliosis. ⋯ Application of gelatin sponge impregnated with 3 drugs combined with robot-assisted minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion for treatment of adult degenerative lumbar scoliosis is safe and feasible with advantages of good short-term analgesia effect, minimal invasiveness, short length of stay, and good long-term clinical outcomes.

The tuberculum sellae is a relatively common location for meningiomas. We assessed our experience with the use of transcranial resection, which, although criticized for its more invasive nature compared with endonasal approaches, may be the ideal approach in selected patients with tuberculum sellae meningiomas (TSMs). ⋯ In most patients undergoing a frontotemporal approach, a GTR/Simpson grade I resection with manageable and self-limiting surgical complications, a good 6-month GOS in most patients, and improved to stable vision were seen at follow-up. Various treatment approaches can be considered for TSM resection, but the ability to decompress the optic canal and achieve a GTR makes the frontotemporal approach attractive in many cases.
