Randomized Controlled Trial
The utility of diagnostic transforaminal epidural injection in selective percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy for multi-level disc herniation with mono-radicular symptom: a prospective randomized control study.
The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical outcomes of diagnostic transforaminal epidural injection (DTEI) in selective percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy for multilevel disc herniation with monoradicular symptom. ⋯ DTEI can improve the clinical outcomes of selective percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy for multilevel disc herniation with monoradicular symptom, through improving the accuracy of confirmation of responsible level.

Use of Pterional Craniotomy for Removal of Penetrating Object: Video Submission and Case Report.
Penetrating injuries are dangerous because they can damage intracranial structures. Removal of the object carries this same risk of injury, so neurosurgeons often visualize the injury via craniotomy during removal. ⋯ The patient progressed well without complications postoperatively and was discharged 5 days later. We provide a report with video showing our surgical approach for removal of a penetrating object through the tuberculum sellae.

Delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) is significantly related to death and unfavorable functional outcome in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). The association between alpha-delta ratio (ADR) on quantitative electroencephalography (EEG) and DCI has been reported in several previous studies, but their results are conflicting. This meta-analysis was conducted to assess the accuracy of ADR for DCI prediction in patients with aneurysmal SAH. ⋯ Worsening ADR on quantitative EEG is a reliable predictor of DCI in patients with aneurysmal SAH. Further studies are still needed to confirm the role of quantitative EEG in DCI prediction.

Disorders related to opioid use account for the most substantial burden of disease attributable to drug use disorders. We aimed to justify if there is an association between either opium consumption or addiction and rupture of intracranial aneurysms. ⋯ There is an association between opium addiction and opium consumption in the hazard period with the occurrence of aneurysmal SAH. Replication of the study with a larger sample size and conduction of prospective studies is suggested.

There is no consensus on a standardized approach to spasticity or dystonia management of cerebral palsy (CP). This study aimed to investigate clinical outcomes and compare therapeutic responses for pallidal stimulation versus intrathecal baclofen (ITB) therapy in adult patients with severe CP. ⋯ Despite retrospective design and relatively low number of cases, this study indicated that ITB therapy was less invasive and more effective in improving the quality of life compared with GPi DBS. ITB therapy should be considered an alternative treatment for patients with severe CP.
