Meta Analysis
Intensive versus standard glucose control in patients with ischemic stroke: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Hyperglycemia is common in patients with ischemic stroke (IS) and has been proven to be associated with worse clinical outcomes. However, it is controversial whether intensive glucose control (IGC) is superior to standard glucose control (SGC). Therefore, we carried out this meta-analysis based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ Our results suggest there is no evidence that IGC is superior to SGC in patients with IS, but IGC increases the risk of hypoglycemia.

Review Case Reports
Surgical Treatment of an Intracranial Anterior Ethmoidal Aneurysm: Case Report, Literature Review and Surgical Video.
Anterior ethmoid aneurysms are rare with 5 cases of intracranial rupture and 3 cases of life-threatening epistaxis described in recent literature. We present a case of an intracranial ruptured anterior ethmoid aneurysm treated surgically with a favorable outcome. ⋯ Consistent with prior reports, an intracranial, anterior ethmoidal artery aneurysm can occur in isolation without an associated vascular malformation. On the basis of a literature review and this case, surgical ligation is considered effective and possibly superior over endovascular treatment due to the risk of injury to the orbital vascular supply with transarterial treatment.

SMARCB1-Deficient Sinonasal Carcinoma: Systematic Review and Case Report.
To describe the current state of literature involving SMARCB1/INI-1 deficient sinonasal carcinoma (SDSC) and examine a case at our institution. ⋯ SDSC represents a highly aggressive tumor presenting at advanced stage with propensity of metastasis. More research is necessary to determine the optimal treatment modality and management.

Outcome prediction in severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI) has been studied using clinical and radiographic measurements and by using biomarkers such as glial fibrillary acidic protein, ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1, and tau. Routine blood tests are regularly performed in patients with sTBI and could be used to predict outcomes. This study aims to investigate whether routine blood tests on admission can be predictive of outcome in patients with sTBI. ⋯ No routine blood tests measured on admission were significant predictors of outcome in patients with sTBI. Other clinical and radiologic factors may be better suited to predicting outcomes in this patient population.

Although Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (TICI) grade 2B or 3 is considered successful after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke, TICI 2B was found to be associated with poorer outcomes than was 3. Furthermore, the newly proposed TICI 2C grade seems to be clinically equivalent to TICI 3 rather than to 2B. This network meta-analysis aimed to assess the differences in clinical outcomes between TICI grades and redefine successful reperfusion. ⋯ Patients with TICI 2C grade would be distinguished from those with 2B, because 2C is clinically equivalent to 3 and has a better outcome than 2B. Therefore, achieving 2C or 3 is likely to be closer to the successful aim of endovascular thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke than achieving 2B.
