M2 occlusions represent 16%-41% of all middle cerebral artery occlusions, with >50% of functional independence achieved. The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association 2018 guidelines suggest that, with a level of evidence B-R, thrombectomy with stent retrievers may be appropriate for selected patients with M2 or M3 occlusions. The purpose of this study is to illustrate a new technique of distal (M2-M3) thrombectomy. ⋯ This technique allows a safe and effective distal thrombectomy for M2-M3 occlusions.

Prognostic significance of the difference between mixed and jugular venous oxygen saturation after severe traumatic brain injury: A post-hoc analysis of the Brain Hypothermia study.
In patients postcardiac arrest, it has been reported that the small value of the difference between mixed venous oxygen saturation (Svo2) and jugular venous oxygen saturation (Sjvo2) is associated with poor neurologic outcome. However, the importance of the difference between mixed venous oxygen saturation and jugular venous oxygen saturation (ΔSo2 [v - jv]) remains unknown in severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). The aim of this study was to examine whether ΔSo2 (v - jv) is associated with neurologic outcome and mortality in patients with severe TBI. ⋯ The reduction in ΔSo2(v - jv) on day 3 was associated with high mortality in patients with severe TBI.

Intra-spinal iliac venous stent migration with lumbar nerve roots compression: a case report.
Venous stenting is a common treatment for chronic peripheral venous disease. The most frequent complications caused by this technique are stent misplacement and intracardiac or intravascular stent migration. In this publication, we will describe the first case of an intraspinal stent misplacement leading to lumbar nerve root compression. ⋯ The intraspinal misplacement of a venous stent is a rare complication that may cause nerve root injury. It requires a prompt treatment. Surgically removing the stent by a posterior approach seems to be a simple and safe therapeutic option.

MIR17 host gene (MIR17HG) is a potential therapeutic target for some cancer types. The aim of this study was to assess MIR17HG protein levels in patients with meningioma who had not been reported previously in the literature and comparing with normal meninges tissues. ⋯ MIR17HG protein expression was found to have a higher level in meningiomas than in normal meninges tissues in our study. Considering the recurrence and irresectability for some meningiomas, which require further treatment, MIR17HG may be a new target for treatment in meningiomas and our study will shed light on further studies.

The present study analyzed the benefits of the use of tractography in the preoperative and intraoperative scenarios. ⋯ Intraoperative navigated tractography shortened the time of awake neuro-oncological surgery and might provide help in performing complete tumor resection. Also, tractography used in the preoperative planning could be a useful tool for better prediction of complete tumor resection.
