Comparative Study
Effectiveness of two types of drill templates for anterior cervical transpedicular screw (ATPS) placements: a comparative study.
To evaluate effectiveness of regular and modified drill templates used to guide cervical anterior transpedicular screw (ATPS) placement. ⋯ Compared with regular drill templates, modified drill templates can provide higher accuracy and stronger trajectory control in ATPS insertions.

We aim to provide a thorough description of the efforts and outcomes of the Co-Pilot Project in Ukraine, which facilitates neurosurgical collaboration between American and Ukrainian physicians. ⋯ Profound disparities in neurosurgical care exist globally, which has led to the formation of collaborative relationships between physicians from various countries. We hope that the work of the Co-Pilot Project in Ukraine can serve as a template for effective international neurosurgical collaboration in other low-to-middle-income countries.

We sought to develop a model to predict the risk of small intracranial aneurysm (SIA; ≤5 mm) rupture among Chinese adults and to compare the score predicted by our model with the PHASES (population, hypertension, age, size, earlier subarachnoid hemorrhage, aneurysm site) score. ⋯ An irregular shape, a high aspect ratio, and a high size ratio were associated with SIA rupture in the Chinese population. Our predictive score is of great value in predicting the risk of SIA rupture.

Various techniques have been performed to reduce subarachnoid clotting during aneurysmal neck clipping surgery. We considered that maintaining the physiologic cerebrospinal fluid circulation by performing arachnoid plasty after clipping during surgery would lead to the accelerated clearance of the subarachnoid clot. ⋯ The present study suggests that good hematoma clearance due to arachnoid formation reduced brain damage, cerebral vasospasm, and hydrocephalus, resulting in significantly fewer cases with poor functional prognosis. It therefore follows that procedures such as arachnoid plasty should be taken into consideration in order to improve outcome in surgical clipping.

In this study, we aimed to examine the effect of myeloperoxidase on aneurysm rupture in patients with cerebral aneurysms with and without rupture. ⋯ In our study, finding myeloperoxidase scores higher in cases of ruptured aneurysms compared with unruptured aneurysms reveals the relationship of myeloperoxidase with ruptured cerebral aneurysms.
