To assess utility and feasibility of a low-cost system to simulate clipping strategy for cerebral aneurysms using patient-specific surgically oriented three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography angiography with virtual craniotomy. ⋯ In our experience, use of 3D computed tomography angiography with virtual craniotomy is an easy and useful solution to plan clipping strategy. The surgeon's awareness of the surgical anatomy is improved. Although this method has some technical limitations, it represents a low-cost alternative if complex and expensive simulation systems are not available.

In recent years, biportal endoscopic surgery has gained popularity, and the number of publications on it has also increased. We herein aimed to investigate the complications of biportal endoscopic surgery. In this study, the available literature was reviewed systematically and the published complications of discectomy in biportal endoscopic spinal surgery were summarized. ⋯ Unilateral biportal endoscopic discectomy has an acceptable complication rate. Knowing the possible complications and risks of this procedure could help surgeons in taking measures to avoid common complications.

U.S. neurosurgery programs are increasingly using social media accounts. We performed a search and analysis of social media accounts across all U.S. neurosurgical training programs with an attempt at understanding the relative utilization by various subspecialties. ⋯ Many U.S. neurosurgical programs have social media accounts with larger programs likely to have social media accounts. While there is a larger percentage of spine faculty within individual departments, vascular and oncology subspecialties are more likely to have a Twitter account. We suggest the need for increased engagement among spine faculty across social media platforms.

An entrapped temporal horn (ETH) is one of the critical complications after tumor removal in the lateral ventricle trigone that sometimes becomes life threatening. ⋯ PIP might be beneficial to prevent ETH because constant osmotic pressure and constant cerebrospinal fluid pulse wave transmission are maintained between each compartment of the lateral ventricle.

Video 1 demonstrates the microsurgical resection of petrous apex meningioma. Even small lesions by general rules are regarded as large due to the delicate nature of anatomic localization. The intricate relationship between the tumor and vascular supply of the brainstem and interposition of cranial nerves makes them challenging lesions to resect.1 A 67-year-old female patient presented with a 6-month history of trigeminal neuralgia in the V2 and V3 branches. ⋯ The patient consented to the procedure. The postoperative course was uneventful. The patient's trigeminal neuralgia completely regressed with no new neurologic deficit.
