Optic nerve sheath meningiomas (ONMs) are often managed with radiotherapy (RT) with the goal of achieving radiographic local control (LC) and preventing deterioration of visual acuity (VA). We aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of outcomes for patients with ONM treated with RT. ⋯ RT was well tolerated, with excellent LC achieved. Nearly 90% of patients noted either stability or improvement in VA and VF. Larger ONMs were associated with poorer VA.

Central nervous system tumors encompass the leading cause of cancer-related death in the pediatric population. Neuroendoscopic techniques have been optimized over the years, becoming an important tool for the management of brain tumors. Our study aims to review the indications for neuroendoscopic procedures and the feasibility of combined interventions. ⋯ Neuroendoscopy is an important minimally invasive tool for diagnosing and treating pediatric patients with brain tumors, permitting to address multiple problems in a single surgery.

Epilepsy surgery has an important role in the treatment of patients with medically intractable seizures. Various authors have proposed an endoscopic technique to perform disconnective procedures. A detailed description of intracerebral anatomy seen through an endoscopic transcallosal corridor has not been reported. The aim of this study was to present a cadaveric step-by-step anatomical demonstration of endoscopic transcallosal hemispherotomy using a dedicated three-dimensional model. ⋯ This anatomical study described the relevant neurovascular structures to enable prediction of feasibility and control of the surgical procedure using the endoscopic transcallosal approach. The quantitative analysis permitted estimation of the theoretical efficacy of the procedure, confirming its relevant role in disconnective surgery.

Symptomatic intraspinal extradural cysts of the cervical spine are uncommon; however, they are usually treated using conventional posterior decompression. Biportal endoscopic surgery is widely used to treat degenerative cervical pathological conditions. This study presented an optimized surgical technique for a biportal endoscopic posterior approach for removal of cervical intraspinal extradural cysts that caused cervical radiculomyelopathy. ⋯ We successfully removed an extradural cervical cystic mass lesion by using a biportal endoscopic posterior cervical approach without complications. The biportal endoscopic approach may have advantages, such as minimizing trauma to the normal structures of the posterior cervical region, magnified endoscopic view, and early recovery after the surgery. Biportal endoscopy may be used as an alternative surgical treatment for symptomatic cervical intraspinal extradural cystic lesions.
