Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is effective in acute ischemic stroke patients ≥80 years old with large vessel occlusion (LVO). However, data for patients ≥90 years old remain very limited, and factors influencing functional outcomes are unclear. This study aimed to investigate factors influencing functional outcomes in patients ≥90 years old treated with MT for acute LVO. ⋯ An initial high NIHSS score and any intracranial hemorrhage are independent factors for the poor functional outcome in acute ischemic stroke patients ≥90 years old treated with MT.

Intraoperative end plate injury can result in late-onset cage subsidence in oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF). This study aimed to identify risk factors for intraoperative end plate injury and investigate whether a pear-shaped disk correlated with intraoperative end plate injury in OLIF. ⋯ A pear-shaped disk is the greatest risk factor for intraoperative end plate injury following OLIF.

Resection of the dominant side of gliomas extending to the frontal operculum has high risk of severe language dysfunction. Here, we report recording cortico-cortical evoked potentials (CCEP) using only two 6-strand strip electrodes to monitor language-related fibers intraoperatively. We examined whether this simple procedure is useful for removing gliomas extending to the dominant side of frontal operculum. ⋯ This study confirmed the utility of CCEP monitoring using only two 6-strand strip electrodes during one-step surgery. We believe this simple method helped in monitoring intraoperative language function and predicting its postoperative recovery in patients with gliomas extending to the dominant side of frontal operculum.

Health care implications of the COVID-19 pandemic for patients with severe traumatic brain injury - A nationwide, observational cohort study.
Containment measures during the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic have resulted in a substantial reduction in treatment of injury. The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the epidemiology and mortality of severe traumatic brain injury on a national, population-based level is unknown. ⋯ The containment and lockdown measures during the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway did not affect the number of patients or mortality of patients with severe traumatic brain injury.

The Intraoperative Utilization of Multi-modalities Could Improve the Prognosis of Adult Glioblastoma: A Single Center Observational Study.
In recent years, numerous neurosurgical multimodal techniques have been utilized to maximize tumor resection safely and effectively. However, the synergetic effects of neurosurgical multimodalities on the survival of glioblastoma patients remain unclear. This study evaluated the role of intraoperative utilization of multimodalities in glioblastoma patients. ⋯ This study indicated that the utilization of intraoperative multimodal techniques improved the extent of resection and elevated the survival for adult glioblastoma patients.
