This study aims to review therapeutic strategies in the management of craniospinal tumors in pregnant patients and the factors that may influence the management along with their influence on maternal and fetal outcomes. ⋯ Craniospinal tumors presenting in pregnancy are challenging. The surgical management needs to be tailored individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team approach. Factors influencing maternal and fetal outcomes are to be considered during management and patient counseling.

Stroke is a leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide. Exosomes, or small extracellular vesicles with signaling properties, have recently been identified as novel mechanisms for stroke treatment. This study aims to use bibliometric techniques to identify current research trends and future directions of exosome-based stroke therapy. ⋯ Using bibliometric techniques, this study identified a current and growing interest in the research of exosomes in stroke, particularly in their pathogenic, biomarker, and potential minimally invasive therapeutic properties. Given the high prevalence of ischemic stroke in the current literature, further characterization of exosomes in other stroke types, such as intracerebral hemorrhage, emerges as a future direction for this field of research.

In children, epidural hematomas (EDHs) constitute around 2% to 3% of all head traumas. The aim of this study is to compare the manifestation, prognostic factors, and outcome of surgically treated supratentorial with infratentorial EDHs in pediatric patients. ⋯ Infratentorial EDH has better clinical outcomes than supratentorial EDH in surgically treated pediatric patients. The most significant and consistent factor influencing the outcome in both groups was the Glasgow Coma Score on admission.

A retrospective comparative analysis of the outcomes of gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) for brain metastases from uterine cervical carcinoma (CC) and endometrial carcinoma (EC), investigated the efficacy and prognostic factors for survival and local tumor control. Histopathological analysis was also performed. ⋯ This study established a relationship between the efficacy of GKRS for CC and EC brain metastases and the histopathological. Though, survival time after GKRS has no difference between CC and EC, CC was significantly higher neurogenic death and neurological deterioration after GKRS. Squamous cell carcinoma had a significantly lower rate of local tumor control among all CC, thereby resulting in CC having lower local tumor control than EC.

Applicants rely heavily on virtual information in the form of neurosurgery residency websites (NRWs) to better understand a program's culture, faculty, and opportunities. There is a paucity of information regarding the value of NRW on applicant decision making. The advent of the supplemental ERAS application and continuation of virtual interviews may increase the propensity of which applicants use NRW. The objective of our study was to distribute a survey to further understand applicants' perceptions and opinions of NRW, as well as provide future direction for NRW optimization. ⋯ Our data suggest NRWs play a vital role in resident recruitment and decision making. Residency programs will benefit from this data and may use it to restructure their virtual recruitment tools and discover innovative virtual recruitment strategies. Our team elucidated the most important variables found on NRWs and proposed future directions for their improvement and the virtual application and recruitment process.
