The purpose of this study was to determine whether percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) and balloon kyphoplasty (BK) have any mid-term to long-term effects on the structural integrity of augmented vertebrae. ⋯ To our knowledge, our study is unique because it has the longest follow-up in the literature comparing BK and PVP in terms of recollapse of the augmented vertebrae. Our study shows that BK does not prevent height loss of the augmented vertebral bodies in the mid- to long term.

Middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAE) is an effective minimally invasive option for chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH). Dexamethasone and statins have been reported to improve the resolution of cSDH and reduce its recurrence. However, only 1 study has investigated the role of statins in patients treated with MMAE, and there is no such study on dexamethasone. Thus, we used the TriNetX research network to determine whether adding dexamethasone or statin along with primary MMAE is associated with a benefit in outcomes. ⋯ Patients treated with primary MMAE and were on dexamethasone or statins had no differences in mortality and functional/provider dependence compared to those who were not on dexamethasone or statins. Patients on dexamethasone had a higher prevalence of headaches.

The efficacy of treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is limited. The effect of DNA damage repair is an important factor. ⋯ The DNA damage repair-related gene signature was an independent and powerful prognostic biomarker in GBM. Knowledge of the GBM subtypes could have important implications in the subclassification of GBM.
